Criticising the players is not the same as saying that Martinez is blameless. People need to understand theres a difference without acting like hardknocks on here when someone disagrees with them. They have been pi*spoor and gutless on the pitch. Players lose form...that's football. But players wearing our shirt who cant speck a pass out....make a run...sometimes even trap a ball ? Do me a bleedin favour. Martinez has played nice guy with them in the hope that they will come good and that's been a major failing.

We have a fantastic squad of mainly internationals.
Yes we have had injuries like everybody else and we have good cover.
Since December we have had a good run on the injury front.
I am not saying drop them Martinez needs to manage them better.
Some might need a good telling off but he is letting good players get away with not giving their best.
How many of our players do you think are playing to their potential?
You don't know what happens behind closed doors. Don't know what is said between players and managers.
Despite a "good run" on the injury front we've still got 6 players out injured currently with another couple only making their way back now. Fair enough to say that we have had a torrid time that has exposed a lack of quality in depth
Mirallas is still playing with a toe injury.
Last season players came in and contributed effectively. We now have aging players that are past it that were key to us last year and some players have failed to step up to the plate and contribute. Then when you add lots of injuries into the mix it becomes hard to gain any momentum.
Senior players have been unable to do the basics.
It's all good to say that this or that should have happened, as we have foresight.
But you make the best of the cards you are dealt and look back and go yeah that was a mistake. The season is filled with could and should have done better and differently. But you learn from mistakes and move forward.
As for players playing to their potential, none have been. They lack form and confidence, which is tied to momentum in a two way relationship.
The season has not been anywhere good enough. But there is time and opportunity for the manager to make what changes need to be made, to get us out of this hole.
You don't need to get arsy.

Glad you think everything is ok
As for this, I find highly ironic that you accuse me of getting arsy in an arsy tone. This forum is here to discuss Everton with other Evertonians. We will have different opinions on different aspects of our club and performance, and as such will see disagreements. Don't see any point to resorting to name calling here in the amicable discussion we were having.

Tony Barrett piece in The Times regarding Ross Barkley....

Ross Barkley break could put Everton at odds with FA

Everton want Ross Barkley to take a complete break from football this summer despite the strong likelihood of the midfielder being selected by England for either the senior squad or the European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic.
The 21-year-old’s form has plummeted this season and Everton believe that he is suffering the after-effects of last season, in which he played 47 matches before going to the World Cup finals. In recent weeks, Martínez has substituted Barkley in Everton’s fixtures against Leicester City and Chelsea and brought him on in the dying minutes of their draw with Liverpool.
“I need to look after Ross because of his age. This is his second season with an important role in the side and after a World Cup, I need to be very wary of the minutes he is going to play,” the Everton manager said recently.
Martínez is now looking to take that approach a stage further, but a decision to rest Barkley would require the FA to omit one of England’s most promising players for either senior or under-21 participation.

Personally, I wish hed never gone the World Cup....likewise Baines and Jagielka especially the latter who got hung out to dry after England's usual no show.

Could not care less what the FA thinks of Everton. We already get the rough end of refereeing decisions for the most part. Not sure how much a negative perspective of Everton from the FA would affect us. I suspect it would have very little impact tbh.

Personally think it might do him some good, he's not been over played so hardly in need of a rest, he might gain confidence from playing with lads his age and having pure mad bantz off the pitch, and he might actually remember he's a footballer.

I do think he needs time away though, particularly away from pressure. If he did go he would be the U21's best player and with it likely expectation to show it.

I think a summer away, recharge and total focus on adapting to the likely scenario that he will now experience his whole career - 2 midfielders getting tight to him before he can accelerate. Whether its tactically we need to get other bodies closer to him for give-and-go's to open space like Liverpool do or some tactical genius beyond me, the manager needs to spend A LOT of time with Barkley this summer.

He needs a manager that plays him on some sort of regular basis, plays him in his effective central position, puts protection rather than geriatrics behind him, and plays a game with some pace. Is currently being badly misused.

Definately agree with each point chang, The use of Barry behind him is in effective, the pressure put on him to create something every time he goes forward with the ball, which he may potentially lose to defenders is then pressurising our defense due to barrys ineffective ability to defend. This I think is spiralling in him taking a more cautious approach to attacking and not trying to take on the player and passing sideways instead

I'm not sure why every post you make needs to be a pronounciation of doom and gloom. There are both positives and negatives in football, and yet you only seem to see the worst case scenario every single time?

ha he went on ignore a long time ago the negative beaut
