Very similar situation with sterling at the RS. Broke into the side at a young age, did really well initially and then had setbacks. They have stuck with him and look at him now.
In comparison Barkley had a more settled position last year. This year he has been shifted all over the park. I'm not using that as an excuse as Barkley has nowhere reached the heights of the season (like many of the team). One thing I do know is that Barkley is a potential match winner and if we are to get out of the mess we need potential matchwinners on the pitch, not three defensive midfielders.

I agree about potential matchwinners needing to be on the pitch. And that's why any minute we play with Ross on the pitch instead of Mirallas is a dreadful mis-management of resources.

You can take what I said to you however you like really but bleating any time anyone dares criticises Barkley is a bit pathetic.

Forums are about opinions. I choose to defend him you want to critisise him. Me defending him means I'm bleating, yet your moaning about him does not?

Where have I moaned about him specifically? Ive moaned about you not being able to take any of the criticism levelled at him.
It would be boring, but yours is the wrong opinion.
 

Can we please give Barkley a go in centre mid against Newcastle?

By far his best game this year was in that position. What has Martinez got to lose from at least attempting to mix things up?

Nah I'm thinking Naismith out wide at least 2 defensive midfielders, Besic and Mirallas to get 60 minutes each. Kone to stay on the bench. Should work.

If he insists on this 4-3-3 formation, the players on the pitch has to be:

Joel/Howard

Coleman Stones Jags Baines (if available)

McCarthy Gibson/Besic
Barkley

Lennon Mirallas
Lukaku

Even then mate I think Barkley gets the raw deal of being isolated in that position as the other two midfielders have no intention of running beyond the ball and causing the opposition problems.

I want him playing alongside McCarthy/Besic rather than all 3 being in the team.

Yeah i'm not a fan of this formation personally but cant see Martinez trying 2 up front and the only other formation is 4-2-3-1 with Barkley and McCarthy further back. and 3 behind Lukaku like Lennon, Mirallas and Osman/Pienaar. But you know for a fact if Martinez went down this route it would be bloody Naismith in behind Lukaku! *facepalms*
 
The fee would have to be higher than that. He would be stupid if he went anyway. They pay big for players and hardly play them. He should stay with us and keep developing his game. He is good. But has so much to learn. Oh I think City are cheating the fair play. They must be.

I'm sure Bizarro will happily fill you in on how City get around the fair play rules - having the 'separate' women's team paying to use the City brand for one.

Anyway Toss, er I mean Ross would be mad to move to City.
