Ross Barkley

I thought he did okay last night, more urgency and tracking back than he has done for quite some time and looking a threat when he turned a ran at defenders.

Granted he wasn't back to his usual self but it's not going to happen over night.

Barkley put great effort in last night, but this just seemed to highlight how seriously out of form he is.
I think you're right there mate.

He certainly ran about a bit more but didn't seem to know what (or have the confidence) to do when he had the ball. Also I don't know whether it's a mental thing or what but he shied out of tackles and was muscled off the ball far too often for a lad with his frame.

He needs the crowd to have a bit more patience when he makes a mistake but also Martinez to protect him more by not exposing him so much while he's out of form.

You stood me up. You did not come to my house where I told you I was watching the match from. You had no right watching it at Goodison.
Christ you're right!

You said that you would be at the Newcastle game!

You know what mate, I need to watch the match back because I didn't see him look threatening at all at the ground (apart from one shot he attempted from the edge of the area).

I've already watched it back and saw him trying to impose himself more and create things.

Like I said its not going to return over night and he looked a lot more threatening last night.

Osman looks ten times the player Barkley is looking now.
It happens, starlets disappear all the time, hope not on this one, but it doesn't look good.

I thought he did well and was a bit unfortunate to be taken off. I think when we made the substitutions you could just sense that Kiev where beginning to fold.

He's definitely not the Barkley of last season but physically he looked good. A few times he out sprinted someone which we haven't seen enough this season and something after his injury had been worrying me. As long as his dip in form is mental he will get it back. It will just take the right man management from Martinez.
