I think generally it does take that long, and the bigger the potential the longer it takes, rooney warped expectations to a large extent. we have to remember hazard was available for about 5 mill not all that long ago, zidane, ballack, ronaldo, nedved etc, they didn't become complete players till the were 24-26
 
His confidence looks to be returning and I think an eye catching performance is just around the corner. Credit to martinez for sticking by him and finally giving him an extended run in his favoured position

People saying he's had a poor season need to remember how many times he's been played out of position. I know he was off form for a good couple of months but I can't help feel that putting him wide left whilst constantly playing Naismith in Barkley's favoured position has impacted on his progress. That's where i'm not sure credit should be given to Martinez on this one.

Wasnt the best thing to do playing him out there but his Position really shouldnt of contributed to how bad he was. He never looked arsed.

Pretty sure Martinez needs his front three to be able to switch across all positions freely during matches, even if they have a 'proper' position which is where they stay most of the time. I guess he was just training him for that, in which case so be it.
 
The kid has so much improving to do to live up to expectations... not least the comment made by his manager.
 

This kid just needs the summer to come asap and have a break away from the spotlight. Work hard, reset his expectations and start again come preseason
 
Very disappointing season. Impotent. Looks to have no idea or confidence on the pitch generally. Hard to watch really. Unfortunately has many colleagues this season...
