Id disagree, he looked special in short bursts, everyone was still saying the same things, he needs to create more, work more, etc. But he'd have his 20 minute spell in a game were he'd do something of note to make it worthwhile and show theres potentially more to come.

I would agree with this. I think people are looking back at his performances last season with Rose tinted glasses. I was just looking at the 'player of the year' thread from towards the end of last season. Over 400 votes submitted - not a single one for Ross.

If he plays with a good midfield then judge him, too much responsibility for a young player in that blues midfield whic is static so much so old Osman led the way, RB looks lost I was surprised he was picked roll on next season we need someone to blend in with him and two outlets in front of our full backs, on the wing- bin Barry for starters imo!
As for you saying he is not rubbish you are having a right go at him!

If your good enough you're old enough. Based on his performances he isn't good enough. You could say that he won't improve unless he isn't getting experience, but we can't afford it if it's to the detriment on the team.

Very true. The whole team has been a bit rubbish. Even Jags who won the fan's player of the season and was awful for the first month.

Because this thread is called Ross Barkley. Barry has been poor and McCarthy has missed games through injury.

He's got the annoying habit of picking the ball up and running along on an imaginary line about 20 yards out and going pretty much nowhere.

He's strong enough and technically good enough to make that run and make something of it, but needs to find a pass to play otherwise it's very easily defended against. It's by no means all his fault, because most of the time no-ones making a run, or even looking like making a move to receive the ball. If someone would make a move now and then it'd give the defenders something to think about and might even give him a bit of room to get a decent shot off occassionally.

At the moment he either runs out of space and ends up losing the ball, or takes a really speculative shot which is easily blocked.

Needs working on in training as much as anything.
