He's been on his holidays all season. He only really turned up in the Europa league game against Kiev and for England. The games that probably mattered the most to him.

Personally I think it's looking very likely that he's just one of those lazy players however hopefully it was just the pressure and hangover from the World Cup, injury and poor season of the club. By the time he was fit we where out of champions league contention and maybe he just found it difficult to be motivated.

If that's the case then it's a sad indictment on the player and manager.

Definitely a C grade "Must do better".

Will the real Ross Barkley please stand up, please stand up. Lads played with the weight of the world on his shoulders this season, crushing expectancy and hype and he has struggled to cope mentally.

Hopefully he just needs to mature because he has the skill set to be a top player, mentally, not so sure anymore.
 
I've no idea why some people are so confident that the lad will be a great player. I do suspect it's largely based on the ridiculous hype that Martinez generated rather than anything we've seen on a football pitch.

We need a new number ten very badly. Barkley will have to earn a place in the team next season.

Last season he looked special for long periods.
This season has been a disaster for him.
I think there is a great player in there but its up to the manager,coaches and him to prove it

Id disagree, he looked special in short bursts, everyone was still saying the same things, he needs to create more, work more, etc. But he'd have his 20 minute spell in a game were he'd do something of note to make it worthwhile and show theres potentially more to come.

He needs to up his game big time

I think he showed a lot of potential last season and had some great games.
To me when watching him this season he appears unfit at times and needs to put a lot more effort in
 
It's been a very poor season for him, but personally I think he has enough about him to really make an impact next season.

He'll have a full pre-season and come back fresh for the start of August. The injury the day before the season started last year really affected him IMO.

I agree with this, opposition are squeezing the space around him, he's no room to accelerate and as we've seen he cannot seem to grasp being the decoy for others to exploit the space.

Apart from defensively that's his biggest problem. He seems to have no football brain whatsover. I don't know if it's laziness, coaching or simply a lack of intelligence.

However he still is very young and Martinez does play a style that doesn't encourage players to get ahead of the ball in case we're countered so for now I'm blaming the tactics and not the player.

He was star last season you do not become a bad player over night try playing in a two man midfield with no wingers like yesterday Messi would struggle in that line up! Blame RM!

The tactics have not helped him but to me this season he has seemed lazy and unfit.
We have a diamond here but we need to work very hard over the summer to sort him.

Forget the gradual send Barry to the MLS with our Goalkeeper too!
