Seems like one of those players whose potential is constantly talked up, until one day everyone realises that he's 27 and hasn't done anything.

It's the lapses in concentration that pee me off. It's like he hasn't really had to engage his brain in the past because he's been naturally bigger and better.

It's not as if he is a serial underperformer.
Last season was disappointing before in season 2013/2014 he showed quite a few flashes of the excellent player he can be.

In season 2014/2015 we expected to see more of this but instead we saw less. But then last season everybody including the manager had an underwhelming season so Barkley was not alone in that.

Season 2015/2016 is a real test for a well rested and now more experienced Barkley.

I think he needs to play central midfield and given the freedom to get the ball and charge forward at will. With a proper playmaker in front of him this will create all kinds of space for the playmaker, we've all seen how players try to crowd Barkley out when he's in full flow leaving gaps all over the show. Obviously this will mean a disciplined central mid alongside him but I think it's worth a try.

Osman must bounce off him in training.

He's just uploaded this and then deleted it.

He's smoking a three skinner there, Defo need to sell this massive kopite.

What type of player in the playmaker role? If we brought in a fast left winger then theres a lot of pace in our attack so maybe someone who can create space for themselves rather than another fast player

I have two fears around Barkley. The first is that he remains average for the rest of his career, the second is that he continues to hold down a starting place based on hype and not ability, meaning more effective players are benched just to accommodate Barkley.

I hope he proves his doubters wrong though and he returns to his form of the season before last. I included him in my better team that would win the league in that other thread, which shows I do rate him.
