Ross Barkley

I must say I got a little worried about Barkley. After all the hype from Cahill and others we finally got to see him pre-season in America and against villareal and I thought he was amazing for such a young lad and on the back of a serious injury. I kind of just expected him to lift of like Rooney did. Which on my part was very naive I think as Rooney was a one off, a world class player at 16/17.

Ross stalled a little.. Maybe because moyes was over cautious or maybe because moyes new he wasn't ready. He wasn't exactly tearing it up in the reserves was he!?!? A few glimpses this past pre-season still didn't fill me with confidence that he was ready although the ability was clearly there.

Now has come this loan deal which IMO he's going from strenght to strenght the more he plays. A great move by moyes when at a time were actually short at CM ourselves. I have no doubt hell be a big player for us next season, maybe sooner but my confidence in the lad has been restored. IMO he will play for England before 2014 and wouldn't suprise me if he's the suprise youngster in rio.

He was either going to drown or swim at shef wed, and its look like he is swimming which is great news for Everton Fans, Moyes job is now to know when to call him back and add him to our team.

Yeah and that could be a very hard decision if we're still up there challenging for 4/5th spots. If we bring in another CM in January could well be best to leave him there all season. Hopefully he would come back next season with us in Europe and plenty more games in our fixture list.

There must be a reason that we're only losning him out a month at a time. I think Moyes does have plans to recall him, possibly for the run in?

It's a youth loan. Therefore as it was not done before transfer deadline it now has to be done on a month to month. Good for us also is after the initial first month we can recall at any time.

No game is easy in the Championship.

Leeds are certainly no mugs, will be in and around the play off area. To play in front of 30,000, live on Sky and in one of the most heated/craziest atmospheres I've witnessed as a football supporter and to put in a MOM performance at 18 is some achievement.

Ipswich although started poorly and low on confidence, have arguably some of the most talented individual players in the league. Chopra, Emmanuel-Thomas, Carson for example.

Peterborough are not the best side in the division, but regardless he put a cracking performance in and you can only beat what is out in front of you.

Got to remember we hadn't won in 10, he came into a losing side and was part of a losing side. For an 18 year old to come into a side shot of confidence and become the key figure in that side is some achievement and shows the quality of the lad. You can spot his ability from a mile off, doesn't matter who your opponents are.

Cheers for the feedback on him mate. For me, anyone his age to be performing like he is in the Championship is certainly something special. I hope he stays with you lads for the rest of the season and maybe even brings you back up to the Prem where a club like SW should be!

Like to see him centre mid now playing in our team who are playing great football - imagine him in Nevilles position? centre mid linking with all the other good players!

Did you read Martin Jols assesment of our performance praising the blues two wing backs - like Barcelona - Coleman has to play one mistake in a perfect performance imo was down to DM's substitutions!

Dont understand why moyes doesent just play him in the first team. He brings young players in too slowly did the same with rooney and rodwell aswell.

players like mcclean for sunderland sterling for liverpool havent looked back since. give him a run of games lets see what he can do, if he still isnt ready then loan him out.

I have a funny feeling that Sterling will quieten down soon enough. It's happened with LOADS of players, they burst onto the scene, then dissapear with a whimper. The majority of youth with Moyes, if they are good enough, will continue to improve.
Moyes has spoke to Barkley about where he sees his development, and Barkley is happy with how he is being treated, that is good enough for me. Barkley made one or two mistakes early on in the season, I don't think this means he isn't ready, but I do think its right to put him somewhere, like ASW, in order to iron out these little mistakes,. which were mostly caused by naivety rather than lack of talent. The Premier League and the media surrounding it can be a very cruel place for a youngster, something I think that Sterling will find out if Rodgers doesn't start showing him some protection. His pressure may show in ways other than losing the ball, like frustration, kicking out, niggly fouls in the wrong places (did anybody else see him kick out against Newcastle?) and he could spend a fair time banned.
SW offer a much safre environment, and there is no way, with the amount of attention to detail that Moyes has, thathe would of been sent there purely for game time. He'll be at SW as Moyes sees positives in the way that they play and where he sees Barkleys development.
