Indeed, and the 17 year old debutant was by far and away the best player on the pitch on the day.
But he's "not ready" apparently.
See the bold bit? That isn't happening, and that is utterly crucial for a footballer's development.
I'm cringing at the people trying to link criticism of Barkley's handling into some sort of moan about a 5-1 win. They are completely separate issues.

I think it's the fact Gueye and Hitz are getting the nod ahead of him that's prompting the questions.
Vellios will feel a tad aggrieved too no doubt.
He hasn't run the show against anybody ffs.
He was impressive against QPR, but 'astonishing talent' ? Deary me.
Some of the hyperbole regarding Barkley is cringe worthy.
Jack Rodwell absolutely beasted Man United at Goodison a few years ago, and scored a brilliant goal. Does that mean he should be starting every game for us ?
Oh wait, we sold him, cos he wasn't good enough despite all the hype. One good game does not a player make. Working hard in training every week and being good enough consistently is what makes a Prem player.
This thread is AWESOME.

Was more than impressive against Villareal in that pre season friendly aswell
Surely the exact same can be said of Gueye though? He needs games if he is going to develop. (he also needs to go on a diet)
Whats the point anyway, if Barkley does play and doesnt score a hat trick and give four assists some of our balloon head fans will be on his back anyway.

We sold him for £12-15m to the reigning Premier League champions. Terrible example.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't rate him, but he played regularly and did enough to impress the best side in the land at that moment in time.
Completely and utterly untrue.
