So he's gone from Youth/reserves last year, to Championship loan spells this year. Seems like a good natural progression for him as he's developed slowly over the last year. Next season is, logically, when he has to step up and I think by then he'll be ready for it. Despite the first team appearances I don't think we've seen much, if any, of the Ross Barkley to come, yet. He'll still only be 19, which is great. I think the handling of the lad will, in the end, prove me 100% wrong.

M main problem here is that most of the complaints centred around Barkley not playing in a match that we won with ease. It's fine to complain that you think he should play more but to use the cup game as a point of reference in teh argument comes across as knee jerk

But thats precisely the point surely. If we don't trust him in a really easy game we won 5-1 when are we going to trust him?

People have argued that Moyes isn't playing Barkley because he doesn't want to throw him into the deep end and if that's true then you play him in games against lower league opposition. He didn't so it isn't.

I think the fact that we were 4-1 up and Moyes takes off the player who plays the barkley role to rest him and then brings on a player who plays in a completely different role instead Moyes meaning we have to change the team is decent proof that he just doesn't rate the lad.

We'll probably sell him to the championship this summer.
