Glad he's got the move. Hopefully it's until the end of the season and then he's given assurances about his role in the first team, otherwise I can easily imagine him making a permanent move.

I think we need another midfielder in though - Hitzlsperger isn't the long term answer at all and we're light on the ground as it is. If one comes available at the right price or on loan it should be our priority position.

Just to make sure Neville never graces the middle of the pitch ever again really.

Don't be silly.

I'm not - if he isn't given assurances that he will be involved in the first team when he gets back then I'd be astonished if he didn't ask for the move.

Why on earth would he move from the club he supports who are playing in the Prem to a club in the Championship just to get games ? Just cannot see it at all, and i highly doubt the club promised him any amount of games at this stage.

Not a permanent move to Leeds, I mean a permanent move away from Everton if he's in for another year in no man's land next year. It's a crucial stage of his development over the next 12 months.

I'd move if that were the case. Sure, I'm an Evertonian, but I'd be looking at Jose Baxter etc. and not want to repeat the same mistakes with my career. He's 20 this year, he needs to be involved properly or look elsewhere.

Jose Baxter messed his career up by being a belter. Not really comparable. I bet you one million pounds that he won't be making a permanent move anywhere for the next couple of seasons. Mainly because Everton are never going to sell him if they think he'll make them big bucks down the line.

he's 19.
If he was 24 and not getting games then it would probably be time to move on.
Ross is still learning and imo won't be ready for premier league for a year or two.
Will i'm sure be a top player for us tho'

It happens. A lot. We see it many times over here in our college teams. Kids that were/are brought into a school, told they would play and get opportunity, but then it never happens for a variety of reasons. So the kid transfers to another school, many times, to a lower ranked school, so they play first team.

I was one of them so I can understand the mindset. Its the love of playing vs the dream of making it big. Occasionally reality wins.

Cannot disagree with this

I disagree. I understand your point, but Jack Wilshere is tearing it up for Arsenal and England and has been for a few years, and Barkley is meant to be in that calibre.

The reality is that a player of his promise will either be playing regularly for us next year or his agent will be advising him to move to pastures new before his star fades. He'll only reach his potential by playing IMO.

If we're going to be waiting until he's 22-24 before he plays properly then we may as well release him with the Hope Akpan's of this world. He's supposed to be a lot more promising than that, and I don't see what not playing him for three or four whole years is going to do for his development.

The reality is that he isn't of Wilshere's calibre or he'd have no trouble getting a game. The mindset that he's ready to take on the PL and that only Moyes is holding him back is baffling.

David Beckham didn't really break into the United team until he was 20.
Paul Scholes didn't really break into the United team until he was 20.
Steven Gerrard didn't really break into the Liverpool team until he was 19.
Frank Lampard didn't really break into the West Ham team until he was 19.

Crucially none of them suffered a double leg break which set back their development by at least a year (as far as i know). Barkley has only just turned 19, so maybe if he'd not suffered that injury and his progression hadn't been halted he'd be closer to being ready for the big time. Unfortunately that injury did happen and his progress was set back considerably.

There's plenty of time for him before anybody needs to start saying he should move on to get more games, really.

You can't point to somebody like Wilshere and say that Barkley should be like him because they're both very talented. Talent does not translate to being ready for the toughest league in the world.

Appreciate what your saying but can't agree.
A few kids do crack it early but not too many.
Wilshire could quite easily go the same way as Vaughn and Rodwell. (always injured) which could be due to playing too many tough games too soon.
Hope he doesn't mind looks a good prospect.

Playing full games in the Championship is better for him than making sub appearances subject to how the games go and whether we can accommodate him. The staff at Finch Farm agree. Enough said.
