Moyes said he didn't use him last time we had a run in for Europe because he wanted experienced heads in the first 11, so if Barkley comes back from loan, he ain't playing in the blue shirt anytime soon.
Think the whole things been handled poorly tbh, Sheff Wed wasn't the best team to send him to, poor on form hovering above the drop zone but he was playing well and their fans wanted him to stay. We recall him as a precaution for nothing really. Send him off to Leeds where it would appear Warnock doesn't quite fancy him as much as Dave Jones did. Shambles really.
Simply must be playing regular competitive football next season, if you fancy the lad as a future talent then you give him the opportunity to progress like Chelsea are doing with Nathan Chalobah at Watford.
Have you still got your Everton youth blog mate?Apologies, i should have added "in his favoured position".
I watched the Cardiff game with a view to getting a last look at Barkley before finishing off the data for Football Manager. He was stuck out wide left with Austin and Brown in centre midfield as Warnock went for a 4-4-2 as he's always seemed to prefer. From the game it looked like he was pretty much tasked as an inside winger like he's appeared for us on occasion on the right side. Didn't have the best of games and was pretty anonymous most of the time as Cardiff dominated. But that's 1 game against a top team.
Warnock has always seemed to gone down the old fashioned route of 4-4-2 with 2 cloggers in centremid, we all know Brown is a thug and the taller black guy Austin next to him liked to get his boot in as well. If that's Warnocks philosophy, which hasn't changed much since his Sheff Utd days, then he won't be giving Barkley a run in centre mid anytime soon and will, in my opinion obviously, shoe horn him onto the left or the right.
Jones trusted Barkley alongside a similarly young Corry for Sheff Wed in centre mid and going off a lot of their forum chat, he was guilty of overdoing it at times, but he excelled on occasion too and bagged the goals. Why oh why he wasn't sent back there i don't know, if they actually wanted him back.
Knees gone.
I think he's cup tied mate, in case we get any injuries.
Not that Moyes would play him any way.
