Nobody's saying it's an easy situation, but how do you motivate a player who knows damn well he's just running his contract out and we're actively looking to sell him? Should be bringing in the young hungry pros who could be in the team for years to come.

I myself have said Duffy should get games, but it's difficult. Distin and Jags play the majority of games for us (rightly so) and when one of them is out really Moyes has to look at playing Heitinga. Doesn't actually give much chance to play Duffy.

Maybe they aren't. They deserve a run of at least 3 games each so we can prove it though.

Maybe.

But if the team's coaches are seeing them not being very good every single day, why would you throw them in?

I'm just asking the question. There must be reason why they aren't getting in. And it could, and i mean could, be that they aren't very good.

Would be good to see him play a part in some of the remaining home games and preferably not when 2-1 down with 10 minutes to play against chelsea. The dreadfull 0-0 norwich home game when he first got called back from Sheff Wed because of all the injuries was ideal but even then moyes chose not to involve him. Give these lads a bit of a go, we could then even possibly slowly move away from giving 37 year olds new 55k a week contracts , its cant all be about the training pitch were moyes seems to personally obsesses over , things can happen in the reality of a Real match day football game , bit of luck , something good happens and all of a sudden a young player makes a name for himself, well thats how it used to work anyway

He could be. I've seen him a bit. Looks good.

But i'm more likely to beleive that he isn't all that if our management team don't think he's good enough to play. Everyone on here, me included, think he should get a look in. But there must be reasons why he doesn't. There must be. Maybe that reason is he isn't good enough.

I'm just saying.

Moyes is a cautious manager. The only young player I can think of him ever putting into the first team was Rooney. For everybody else it takes years for them to win his trust. Anichebe is the most obvious example. I know he's had his injuries but he's been breaking through for 7 years! Rodwell, Vaughan and Coleman have all been in and out of the side. Barkley was only 19 in December as well. Maybe we expect a bit too much too soon?

Because its worth taking a chance on someone who might flourish in the first time rather than persisting on players who consistently make mistakes but get picked anyway.

This seems the most likely I reckon.

At who's expense?

Duffy should have gone out on loan imo, as he's not had any chance to progress this season, as he's rightly 4th choice. It's only the poor recent form of last seasons player of the year & our current 3rd choice CB Heitinga, which is making people suggest he should be getting some game time. However, say Moyes put him in at the weekend & he has a mare at Oldham, people would be wanting Moyes head on a stick on here, it's easy when it's not your bollocks on the block.

As for Barkley, loaning him on the proviso that he played plenty of minutes was the right decision, but Leeds was the wrong choice of destination. Ross is another who needs game time to develop & I hope now he's returned that he gets a chance between now & May.

Duffy instead of Heitinga at CB. Third choice behind Distin and Jagielka.
Barkley at CM instead of Neville and Hitzlsperger. Behind Fellaini/Osman/Gibson.
