Ross Barkley

Or he could be sent out on loan like Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Cole, Ferdinand, Wilshere, etc.

When he's 23 and playing for Port Vale we can talk about his career being messed up, not 19 after missing a whole year of football to injury at a crucial stage of development.

I've said before that i'd like to see Barkley get more game time, but i really don't think getting a few minutes here and there is going to be the difference between him making it and not.

I've no problem with any young player being sent out for a proper loan. Except Barkley hasn't really had one, stop all this send him out bring him back stuff.

If he stays here he needs to play, if not he needs to go out to a Championship side at worst where he plays pretty much every week.

Thus far he's been bounced around like a bad cheque and its not helping anyone.

Wiltshire is a better player than Barkley.

The nev/hitz comments don't make sense to me as there different players playing different roles. Gibson is our deep lying player, if injured nev/hitz form back up for that role. Barkley is NOT a deep lying or def mid so wouldn't be considered to play there.

Barkley would idealy play in ossie's role, CM but a bit further forward no.8 if you like. But it would be a very big ask for him to start regular games there at this stage. I can also see in tight games it would be a worry to throw him on there in such an important posistion which I'm sure he's not experienced enough to play, even if he has the ability.

For me he has stalled through not enough playing time, is that moyes fault or the competitve ness of the games we'v been in this season making it hard to bring him on? Not sure is my answer.

For me I'd be looking to get him on from the bench a lot more. Maybe for now not CM. Bring him on off the striker or on the right. Minimal defensive responsibility maximum attacking potential when were trying to win a game.

Agree with this, but where would Fellaini be played?

Wilshere is probably the best example. He broke into the Arsenal team properly at 18 years and 7 months. However, he didn't have a double leg break aged 16 which set back his development a year.

The idea that Barkley's career (aged 19) is being ruined is madness.

hes prob a better player too and he looks like an arrogant little g1t so is prob more mentally prepared etc

Lets be honest, none of us have ever seen him play and dominate a game in the Prem, I dont know what the fuss is all about. Look how long its taken Vic to get a regular starting berth.

Needs to develop both physically and mentally, if he's all that, then i suggest he will prove to be what he was built up by people on here to be, if not, then its not broken the bank !

Yep.

Often when Barkley gets the ball from when i've watched him he's not too sure what he actually wants to do with the ball. Obviously that kind of thing comes with age and getting games (whether it be in the Championship or with us) but Wilshere is a rarity in terms of development.

The main thing Barkley needs to do is to stop giving the ball away in dangerous places, it's something that Wednesday and Leeds fans have commented on being his main downfall. If you give the ball away in a dangerous position in the Championship then you may get away with it, where as in the Premier League there's a much greater chance that mistake will be punished.

The only positions I'd trust Barkley with at this moment in time are behind the striker or on either wing, where he probably wouldn't be as effective.

I do agree that he has been mismanaged though. He was MOTM against QPR at the start of last season, then he was completely banished from the team for giving a penalty away against Blackburn. Why not give him 15 minutes or so every game or two?

Of course if he doesn't make it in the Prem and ends up playing in League one it will all be because he's not good enough rather than the fact he's been handled wrong.

If you buy a plant, look after it, feed and water it properly it will then blossom into a beautiful flower.

If you buy a plant, stick it in the shed, bring it out for 1 days sun a month and then piss on it it won't grow into a beautiful flower.

I really don't see how anyone can defend the way he's been handled. Thrown into the first team, man of the match performances then pulled out after 1 mistake. Intermittent appearances then sent out on loan where he plays well.

Then bought back and either not used or given 20 mins against Chelsea and called gash when he made the same mistakes that Distin and Jelavic made when they had no one to pass to.

Then sent out on loan for a month to an idiot like Warnock.

Now? Who knows. He needs to either play regular football in centre midfield at a lower level or he needs to be slowly intergrated into our team in centre midfield. Well that should have happened 2 years ago but i'm sure the same excuses will come out that we can't risk playing him now cause we're going for Europe or every place counts. So we play some older load of rubbish instead who costs us.

This, in a nutshell.

It's been 3 years since the lad has made his debut. Not only has he been starved of first team action with Everton. He's been sent out on pointless one to two month loan deals when they should have been for a minimum of 6 months.

I feel sorry for people who are trying to consistently defend Moyes and his staff over the development of Barkley over the last 3 years.
