Ross Barkley

The first recall was due to an injury crisis so it wasnt ideal. The second was because Moyes wanted him playing regularly and Warnock wasnt guaranteeing it. Not sure what else he is supposed to do?

The injury crisis was so bad he came back for 30 mins (if that?) at Stoke.

I see warnock wanted a winger not a cm. maybe Moyes should have checked where he would be playing before he agreed the loan?

Oh well, get him back, sit him on the bench and relax. The Leeds and Sheff Wed fans said he improved so he can't be stagnating.

Made his debut in 2008/09 pre season, made 8 appearances.
2009/10 made 21 appearances for Arsenal and Bolton.
2010/11 made 49 appearances for Arsenal.
2011/12 missed the season due to injury.
2012/12 22 appearances this far.

Barkely made his debut in 2011 making 9 appearances.
2012/13 made 18 appearances for us/Wednesday/Leeds.

Don't know if they're subs or starts or how long he played for which can make a difference.

Looks like Wilshire was used sparingly to get experience then after 2 years of that played regularly, but whether he was put in, pulled out, sent out on loan, pulled back, sent out on loan and pulled back again i don't know.

Now of course Barkley hasn't been ruined yet but i really can't see how anyone can say he's been handled well.

2008-09 his appearances were:

On 86
On 85
On 58
Off 62
On 76
Off 75
Started
On 83

Not loads of play time, and the ones where he did get a decent amount were Carling Cup games or games they were already losing.

If Barkley hadn't had the leg break he'd probably have gone out on loan aged 17 rather than 18, and he could well have been ahead of Wilshere in development terms.

I really don't see what's so bad about his current situation.

....over 200 pages is probably an indication of how desparate folk are to bring through a superstar. I'd love to see the boy become a success but seeing is believing and I don't see a top player here. Reality check please.

I think we as supporters are all putting too much pressure on him to be a world beater.

He is still a kid, he will make mistakes, have off days. The nerves will also get to him. Just look at Gerrard, he suffered from nerves when he first got into the big red team of tossers.

Give him time.

He's going to become one of the very best English players in the next 18 months, he literally could be the next Zidane, no kidding, the things I have seen this lad do with the ball are sublime, I have no worries he will make it.

He's not yet, tbf. But he has got a lot of potential. He needs to be played, but Moyes knows he has a mistake in him and he wont take the risk that what he offers can cancel out the errors. Which is ridiculous given the amount of game time he gives to older players who stink the place out.

We needed him back as a "just in case" option. So it was unfortunate. So what if Warnock wanted a winger? Doesnt mean he couldnt have taken Barkley on loan. We have since recalled him because we cant get guarantees of playing time for him. Circumstances have dictated what we have done and we seem to be trying to do right by him in every way available.

It is if he plays, which he will imo.

I think he'll get something at least.

I'm fairly sure that if we didn't have a paper thin squad and didn't have those injuries earlier in the season then he'd still be at Sheffield Wednesday. I'm not sure of the exact reasons why Moyes then chose to send him out to Leeds rather than back to Weds but with them being a better side Moyes might have thought it would have been a better environment for him to learn in, which I would agree with. Just a shame it didn't work out according to plan.

Also Warnock is a grade A double whopper with cheese.

I still don't understand why we broke up his development at Sheff Wed for a 'just incase' There was Lundstrum and Junior that could have sat on the bench for him. He played wide vs Stoke when he came on anyway and I don't think we where short on wingers at the time where we?

I believe there where a number of clubs after him before he went to Leeds. Moyes or whoever decided it was best for him to go there though despite probably being aware of what type of player they needed.

No worries anyway mate, he had a ball at Leeds over the past month, he even said so himself, so all is well and good.
