Ross Barkley

I've gave you examples mate, you're ignoring them though

. Rodwell was never anywhere near the standard of Barkley. Rodwell was lucky enough to be playing in an era when Fellaini was raw (and crap), Segundo Castillo was present an Arteta was injured a lot therefore he had lots of opportunity. Rodwell was also less of a luxury player than Barkley, therefore less of a risk and that's why Moyes gave him countless opportunities because he done the basics well. Rodwell is still making mistakes now for City. Look at his debut!

The end of the day Moyes gave Rodwell more playing time. He's yet to offer Ross this yet.

I saw Rodwell skin a defender before setting up Arteta at MANCHESTER CITY. I saw Rodwell score a screamer against MANCHESTER UNITED. I saw Rodwell be picked for the ACTUAL men's England team. He then had the richest club in the world target him and invest 15 million on him.

Barkley has a long way to go before he gets anywhere near achieving these feats, so I struggle to see how you have come to the conclusion that Rodwell was of an inferior standard to Barkley. Oh sorry, I forgot, Barkley looked 'comfortable' against Stoke City. You're full of excuses and have absolutely nothing to refer to, mate.

Um how many games had Rodwell played for us before he done those things?

I know you're far away mate. But you need to get to the game more.

As above really how many appearances had Rodwell
Racked up before he done all that? How many opportunities did he have. Barkleys player 8 times for Everton. 4 starts, 4 subs. What had Rodwell done after 8 games?

He goes every week mate, Home and Away.

Do you?

GOAL! What a strike from Barkley! On the left touch line, just inside the area, he creates that little bit of space and finds the far corner

Clearly deserves to be in and around the first team. That's what special players can do; turn a bad game on its head with a bit of magic. Suddenly a 2-0 defeat is 2-1 and the side goes on to win 3-2.

Sure it's youth level but it can happen in the senior set up too, like at Spurs.

Not really sure on Essex Blues' point regarding Rodwell. Barkley has had less than a 100th of the opportunity to demonstrate what he can do in the first team, so saying what Rodwell did at a similar age is completely irrelevant.

Should have been given a run out against Reading instead of Hitzlesperger.

Good to see him getting games in the U21's though.

That's my point. He was being picked and exhibiting his talent in one of the hardest leagues in the world. Barkley isn't being picked, he is being sent out on loan where he has tried to exhibit his own talents in a inferior league.

I'm not writing him off. Scoring in the Championship is not to be sniffed at, especially for a teenager. But from what I have seen he is nowhere near ready for Everton's first team at the moment. He's got plenty of time to come through, though!

I just in no way agree with the 'Get him on' shouts. He had a nasty injury as a young lad, he is still a fecking kid, and it will be a few years yet before we see what Barkley can or cannot do. It's a shame the deal with Leeds did not work out.

Spot on.

Look, all t*ttishness aside, the reason I'm a "Barkley Believer" is because of the QPR game. As someone said earlier, every time he got on the ball the crowd held their breath because it was crystal clear that the lad was something special. It's just his stature.

There's two midfielders of this generation where I've thought "they're the next big thing" without question. One of them, Jack Wilshere, is well on his way to becoming it. Barkley, thanks to giving away a penalty once, hasn't been let of the leash.

Those who believe in Barkley simply haven't seen anything since that QPR game to justify his complete and utter demotion from the first team squad. Maybe he has deteriorated badly since then, who knows, but for me it seems extremely unlikely as the lad has definite pure talent.

The likely reason is because of his mentality, but you gain that via first team experience, so that's the frustration for me - it's a catch 22; maybe he hasn't got the mentality to hold shape or whatever, but he's surely worth a place on the bench for the games when we're a goal or two down and we need to roll the dice?

So your a crap fan and hes a boss fan.

Bow to his knowledge.

Anyone can say they go home an away over the Internet lad. Everyone sees it differently but hes wrong about Barkley and I'm sure he'll prove that.

I'm a crap fan? It's my local club, I support the club as much as anyone else. Says you who is "always" at the game but hasn't seen enough of Barkley, with 15mins at QPR. When he had an absolute blinder for a full 90 mins. "Always at the game"

Nobody knows, is the correct answer.

Nobody knows how much or little effort he does in training.

Nobody knows how many 20/20s he drinks at a weekend.

Nobody knows if hes the next Michael Johnson.

But I for 1 would love to find out.

Moyes needs to stop bringing Naismith on when we're winning anyway. If there was ever a time to bring on Barkley is was against Oldham when we're 3 up.
