Ross Barkley

Didn't look up to speed to the prem for me. Bit ponderous while the Stoke players still looked sharp.

Game time will probably sort that out.

Does anyone else do the same as me when he comes, like watch him the whole time to see what he does, even when we don't have the ball? I'm really not sure why, I dont do that with our better players.

Physique is good mate, enables you to take a tackle without falling over, pass & shoot with power, and last more than 20 minutes a game.

Then in the shower, you can rub that soap all over your ripped torso, and be attractive to the older players when you bend down to pick something off the floor.

I always watch new players to see if they are making themselves available and finding space. Don't like the players that give the ball and think 'Jobs done'. Also don't like it when players are not ready to receive a pass as if not expecting a pass. They should be switched on the whole game and should expect anything that happens.

Barkley was making himself available at every moment and was finding the pockets of space which is a great sign. I don't know if he will make a great player but I have no doubts he will be a good player if he is allowed games under his belt

Basically this. He needs games under his belt to get used to the Premiership, so, while we're still in with a shout of European football means he's not likely to start. Hopefully next season he'll get a run in the team, the lad's obviously talented. Hate his boots though. Horrible colour.

the lad need to go to a midtable or lower club and get given a run in the team... could be the makin of him, i'm thinkin wilshere at bolton kind of stuff.

Why do people keep saying he's "obviously talented"? I've watched nearly all his senior minutes (only on stream, mind) and haven't seen anything that makes me think he'll be the next Rodwell.

He gives the ball away regularly, tries tricks which don't come off and loses positioning when the team lose the ball.

On the plus side, he wants the ball and he seems to have a good eye for a through pass.

I agree he needs more game-time if he's ever gonna be a useful squad player, but to secure more game-time he's got to convince in the little time he gets on the pitch. He's not doing that.

Vellios has done more to warrant more game-time, even doing well when asked to play unconventionally on the wing.

Good luck to Ross, I know how much we really want a local lad to do good again, especially after losing the last two to the monied Manchester clubs. Hopefully he can tighten his game up for next season.
