Ross Barkley

Barkley just needs old heads to get him pumped and bring him into the fold.

Like Ferguson did with young Wayno.

Saying I don't want someone to play a specific game is not the same as saying ****e.

Osman is 31, off form and struggling with an injury.

Very much. And Ross should have been given more game time. But he's not capable of replacing him yet, the pack needed to be shuffled and he was played off a striker not a Cm dictating play from defence to attack

Ross deserves to start against Sunderland imo, he's basically gone through trial by fire.

His appearances:

Stoke Away - On 69th

Chelsea at home - On 77th

Wigan at home (FA Cup, losing 0-3) - On 78th

Stoke at home - On 79th

Spurs away - Started, off 51st

Arsenal away - Started, Off 75th

He's been very limited in terms of time he's gotten, and almost every appearance has been against a very good side.

It must be quite a shock having to go from playing championship teams with Leeds to playing some of the best teams in the world away.

Sunderland is usually a good fixture for us, and I think he deserves a chance against some weaker premier league opposition to prove he deserves to play with the first team.

Ross played great yesterday. When he hit that shot yesterday I felt as if he would have fulfilled some Everton prophecy. He should start against Sunderland behind Vic again.

I think that Barkley should have played some part in another dozen or more games this season.I don't believe that it is just recently that he has suddenly become mature enough to play in the first team.
It would have given him more experience and eased the pressure on other players.
Neverthe less,I think we will see a lot of Barkley next season, even moreso if Fellaini moves on,as it will allow Barkley to get more time in a role supporting the main striker.

What I love about the lad more than anything, is his fact that he loves a shot.

Its really refreshing to have a player that looks to hit it when he can.

Very similar to the likes of Lampard and Gerrard.

Having a player that does that, will give us much more rebound chances too.

Definitely mate! With confidence and more experience through game time he could be a 15+ goals a season midfielder with that kind of desire!

a couple of interesting snippets from the independent...

There is no doubt that the emergence of an academy-produced English teenager in a top-six side at this stage of the season is the exception rather than the norm. Roy Hodgson, who has again voiced his concerns about the diminishing number of English players, can thank the prolific Everton academy for Barkley's progress.

Moyes had other options but he chose to play Barkley behind Victor Anichebe, with the creative responsibility that position brings. "We're having to find the times and moments to play Ross, given where we are in the league and what games we have, and he's got a bit to do yet," Moyes said. "He's not quite ready to be a regular, playing all the time, but we gave him a role that might suit him. He's got a goal in him, as you saw from the shot."

He just needs a few games even if for 60 mins, will do his confidence some good, at the moment he seems like he's scared to make a mistake but once he's getting a few games he'll just play with no fear and show us all what he's got. I hope he plays tomorrow.

Assuming that Ossie is doubtful, I'd like to see him in the same position tomorrow with Jelavic playing just ahead of him.

His link up play with Vic didn't really work on Tuesday.
