Just watched the whole video, thanks for posting it Mick. I saw a bit of this match live.

For such a "dominant performance" he sure gave the ball away a lot. A good majority of his passes were backwards or directly sideways.

However, with the ball on his foot, he sure can beat a man. Got a nice bag of tricks on him. Nice shot as well.

You would assume a lad of 19 that has premier league quality would be running the show everytime out there for the U-19's. He certainly seemed to be the focus of the buildup, the ball always passing through him somehow.

Edit: Saw Micks post from above. Agree completely he was immense in the second half, even with a few poor passes//giveaways

Good video. I know it's only u19s but he has a confidence/arrogance (reminds me of Rooney when he was first on the scene) that you can't teach to go along with his talent. I'm aroused.

Literally showed his every touch I reckon- good and bad. Second half of the norm he was immense.

Ah you must be right Mickers. Certainly a lot more good than bad though. Always made himself available and clearly very comfortable with the ball. He's like a young scouse Xavi...

I think the one thing to say if you have the ball that much you are bound to give a few stray balls away.

I disagree that there alot of side way balls- any time there is an option of going forward he does. A real positive looking player which is based on confidence in himself and that the team has in him.

From what i have seen, i have to agree with Moyes and say hes not ready for the Premier League yet.

I guess just a large number of the ones in the first half seemed to backwards//sideways.

Should have mentioned that some of the sideways plays are into open space and are of the positive nature. (Can think of a few swings to the outside he made)

It does help him a lot to be on the ball all of the time. He had a huge number of touches that game. Hoping he can get on the ball for us this year, an exciting player to watch no doubt.

You would expect a Premier caliber player to dominate every game he plays at that level. Domination should be about more than ball possession and touches imo.

Playing in games like that is great for confidence. Great confidence in your own ability if you have the ability can mean great player.

Bit of a sweeping statement that loodid. Just all part of his development

I agree. Confidence is huge for Barkley moving forward. Playing this kind of game and having the team play through him is huge and will most certainly affect how he will play for us. But I also have to agree with Deloodid. Barkley at this point isn't our saving grace YET.

Give it time. You can tell from his confidence and how he plays that he'll be a fantastic player. Just all part of his development which is on going.

His poor touches are more down to concentration rather than technique. That's what the club will be working on with him as you can't give away possession that cheaply in the Premiership. More so if you're deep as he was there.

I haven't seen enough of Barkley to know exactly how good he is but whenever I have seen him he's looked lively and a positive influence on the team. He tries to make stuff happen going forward.

I think Moyes is too cautious with youngsters. They don't learn to raise their game through playing against lower quality players. They need experience against better players so they can learn to adapt and improve their game otherwise you run the risk of stunting their development and a promising young talent can become a nothing player as they weren't given enough exposure to top level football at a young age.

You manage any sides shadow?

Adapting and improving their game is all good and such, but if they don't have the base ability to play against the players its a negative impact on the team and on them. Potential is just that, potential.

Not saying that youth players shouldn't get a go every once in a while, but they train with top class players everyday, that certainly shall affect there development. Also keep in mind players play in internationals, youth games, reserve games or out on loan. There are ways for them to develop outside the first team that will get them closer to a level where they are able to play for the first team.

****ging Moyes off for not playing youth players who don't have the ability to play isn't exactly fair.
