As much as are given a chance. We wouldn't know unless we try, right? So in the cup(s), friendlies, 'won' games (when we're leading 3 or 4:0, you know that one time this season this will happen) or even games in which we're losing or performing badly - why not try and, you know, make a positive sub? Send in a hungry, young player who will give them hell, or at least try to? Wanna know why? Because Neville will ALWAYS be in front of Barkley in the pecking order, because it's the Moyes way. Because that new youngster who we've bought for a mil' off some lower league/foreign team will rot in the reserves, because that's the Moyes way. I dread to think if Baines, Hibbo and Neville are all unfit, we'd probably start Weir in defence, as he's the one with experience, and we'd probably be playing some Blue Square team. Because experience is always more important for us nowadays, even if the player is obviously dreadful, because it's the Moyes way of favouritism. For what we know - we might have the next fu*cking Messi in the youths at the moment, and he'll get a total of 3 games before being sold to a lower league team at the age of 23 and already "mentally broken". Or if he's good enough - he'll become a champion. But not with us, it's just not our thing.
It was the same thing with Cahill - fit or not, better options or not, he'll play on injections, because he has experience. And he'll do [Poor language removed] all for a whole season.
I love how people are happy with the way we treat youth players. Baffling to say the least. "You don't win anything with youths", right? Because we're winning the treble every damn year with this ageing half-sunk ship.
Also - we give a chance ONLY when we have a total of 10 first team players.
This is why I hate going on the Everton forum during the summer.
