Had a RS the other day laughing at me about how mustard Barkley is, yet we will "probably" [Poor language removed] him up like Rodwell or not hold on to him like Rooney.

Rodwell n Barclay are kids.
Their time will come undoubtedly.
They kept hold of Torres,Alonso and Mascherano didn't they? and let's face it nobody wants their youth cos they're crap
Red ****e cockend methinks

It seems everyone below the age of 25 at Everton under Moyes is labelled as a kid.

He'll be a kid in 2 years time playing for a ) Man City, who've bought him and he's winning silverware with us, or b ) on loan for Accrington Stanley, who are bottom of League 2.

Ill accept that maybe, if you or anyone else tells me who out of our starting 11 against Newcastle you would drop in that game for one of our young players.

Or which young players you defo want to start against Utd and who to drop.

I really think people dont know what they want but they want loads of it and yesterday, last week Heitinga was linked with a move away and people were apoplectic and saying things like we need cover for Jags and Distin, very few were saying "get Duffy on". Similarly, how many wingers have we been linked with this summer, id heard very few say lets hang onto the money and give Gueye a go for the season.

i dont advocate selling Jonny because I think he is better than Jags or Distin, I'm perfectly hapy with Duffy as 4th choice, thats how it should be at this stage, giving him opportunties as and when, there is also not a single situation that exists where I would have that club footed oaf Neville play in midfield ahead of Barkley, I dont think Moyes treatment is benefitting the lad, looked boss last pre season, was publically humiliated for one mistake and banished to the ressies, looked like a player low on confidence, goes away with England, steadily bulids in that tournament, starts to look confident again, comes back to everton scores in a friendly then banished back to the ressies and seems like his confidence has gone again. If he does play he'll probably get stuck out on the wing anyway

Disagree, Utd youngsters have to earn there place, trust me there are many in the youth team dont get anywhere near the training with the first team.

The facts are there young players get a chance at Everton, its up to them to take it, people just want to see them play so they can make there own minds up on them - which is a bit naive tbf.

Which is why I said at the bottom, that if they're not good enough, they're not good enough.

But if you're telling me Moyes would play a youngster over a Neville or Hibbert etc no matter how good he was in a big game, then I haven't seen it.

Where as at United, Fergie has no problem playing youth in massive champos league games and derbys.

The only way to find out if they're good enough is to throw them in at the deep end

How many 21 year olds are ripping it up every week in the premier league?
Not too many.
The premier league is all about running and chasing not technical like other European leagues which means players don't generally make real breakthroughs until 24-26 years.
Rodwell and Barclay will succeed in time imo hopefully with us.

Tell him to koff and pull up the fact that the only youth player theyve brought through in 15 years was Gerrard. And the only decent looking one theyve got now is Kelly.

I dont think theyd do it with us IMO.

If they're not playing Champos league by 24, they wont reach their potential IMO.

Additionally our setup is too rigid for player's to express themselves and be able to make mistakes.

It's why I think Rodwell is over cautious (compared to the England game where he went for it) and Barkley was banished to the reserves after giving a peno away.

Anyone have any idea if he'll be with the first team on Sunday vs Blackpool or the Ressies on Saturday vs Bangor?

I try. But you know the c**ts. They're so arrogant. I just the fact that people put Everton in the "minor" club category. I just feel like, to the outside world, Barkley almost represents the club at the moment: will he sink or swim?

That's 3 years in Rodwells case and forever away for Barclay.
3 years in football is a long time to improve.
I've seen enough from both players to think that down the line they will make the grade and if they are not playing regularly at 24 -25 i will hold my hand up and say they or the club got it wrong, but for now i think Moyes is right to play Barclay sparingly.
I do think however that Rodwell barring injuries will play more games this season.

As much as are given a chance. We wouldn't know unless we try, right? So in the cup(s), friendlies, 'won' games (when we're leading 3 or 4:0, you know that one time this season this will happen) or even games in which we're losing or performing badly - why not try and, you know, make a positive sub? Send in a hungry, young player who will give them hell, or at least try to? Wanna know why? Because Neville will ALWAYS be in front of Barkley in the pecking order, because it's the Moyes way. Because that new youngster who we've bought for a mil' off some lower league/foreign team will rot in the reserves, because that's the Moyes way. I dread to think if Baines, Hibbo and Neville are all unfit, we'd probably start Weir in defence, as he's the one with experience, and we'd probably be playing some Blue Square team. Because experience is always more important for us nowadays, even if the player is obviously dreadful, because it's the Moyes way of favouritism. For what we know - we might have the next fu*cking Messi in the youths at the moment, and he'll get a total of 3 games before being sold to a lower league team at the age of 23 and already "mentally broken". Or if he's good enough - he'll become a champion. But not with us, it's just not our thing.

It was the same thing with Cahill - fit or not, better options or not, he'll play on injections, because he has experience. And he'll do [Poor language removed] all for a whole season.

I love how people are happy with the way we treat youth players. Baffling to say the least. "You don't win anything with youths", right? Because we're winning the treble every damn year with this ageing half-sunk ship.

Also - we give a chance ONLY when we have a total of 10 first team players.

This is why I hate going on the Everton forum during the summer.
