Ross Barkley

True but even with adrenaline you'd think he'd know he has a broken bone, I haven't broken a toe before but surely you'd hear or feel the snap? That's why I'm thinking it's just a bad knock more than anything else because I can see him running a bruised toe off then having it hurt in the morning more than running a broken toe off.

Good point, could be just a hairline crack rather a full broken bone, probably get more news IDC.

I'm going to go with the theory that it's just a big hoax. Let them think we'll be play a weakened side then when Barkley is on the team sheet Rodgers will crap himself, their players heads will drop and we'll coast to a 6-0 victory with Barkley bagging a hat trick. After the game Martinez will shrug his shoulders, smile and give the camera a wink.

...my thought about these toe injuries is the quality of footy boots. We've lost two key players in recent weeks with toe injuries, rarely happened when we didn't have pink plastic boots. When players are on 30k plus per week, it astounds me how clubs let them play with sub-standard footwear. A month out for these lads is £200k, all for a pair of fancy dan boots. Get it sorted.

I just cant see how it will be a bad injury as with baines you knew straight after the game that he was gonna be out but just waiting for the news of the injury, barkley picked this up last week and had a late fitness test surely at the worst its a small fracture?

Agree. I've noticed that Martinez always plays up the return time for players. He originally said that Deulofeu might not be back till Feb/march and now he's due back at the end of the month. He's being overly cautious in case it's the worse case scenario and the player is back later than anticipated, but I don't think Ross will be out for too long. Only last week he said Jags wouldn't be ready for another week to 10 days.

Broken toe? No problem. Have played a full match with one many years ago. Just sprayed the (big) toe with lots of ice spray and wrapped it in lots of protection. Mind you in my day my boots offered alot more cushioning protection than the carpet slippers worn today.

no chance a broken metatarsal he would of been in much more pain, remember rooney breaking his for England? he was rolling round in agony
