Ross Barkley

That's a bit much.

Everyone here wants Ross to succeed.

For Everton. I don't care what he does for England, and if he leaves us for Chelsea, I no longer care if he succeeds.

So why would anybody not want him to play at the highest level and do well at that level as an Everton player. What has the potential of him going elsewhere got to do with wanting an Everton player play for their country.

Barkley is good enough to reach the top so that means playing well for his country so some of you may just have to stop whinging about it and accept that we have a potential star on our books.

hmm

Martinez insists he wants to build the Goodison club's future around the fledgling talent of the 19-year-old England midfielder.

But he acknowledges that if Barkley outgrows the club they would be prey to Madrid and the rest of European football’s elite.

“And it would cost them a lot of money!” the Spaniard warned. “He is as good an English talent as we’ve seen, and that’s going to alert teams competing to win the Champions League, never mind the Premier League.

“He’s got the potential to achieve what Bale did.

“You’re talking about two to three years to fulfil that – that goal at Newcastle in midweek shows what he is. As well as the power, he has the control and the class.

“Once a player fulfils his potential and has done everything at a club, it’s not positive for anyone to keep him because he’s then not going to produce the kind of performance the team needs.”

Try quoting the rest of what he says in the same article mate?

The part where he says this like

“Ross has got everything to be as good as he wants. He is the perfect fit for Everton and the perfect fit for what we want to do in the future. We want to build the team around him.

“At the moment, he needs to keep playing at Everton and, hopefully, we can use his development to take the club forward so that we don’t have to lose him. That’s the next challenge for us as a football club.”

The local lad Ross Barkley, who is very close to his family who are all massive Evertonians....

These clowns masquerading as journos just like to stereotype people. This idea that Barkley is going to be like Rooney in character is extremely grating. If Everton were struggling, he might be looking to jump ship... maybe. But we are not, we are knocking very loudly on the door of the top 4 and are not a million miles away from the very top.

The only way Barkley is getting sold is for financial reasons - and our manager constantly tells us we are in a very strong financial position and have no need to sell anyone that we don't want to.

He'll be the person to move us into that top four if we keep moving the direction Martinez has us going. We'll obviously need some money too (as if) but we've just brought through a player who I reckon will be one of the best players in Europe later in his career.

If we do the right things over the next few years then Ross can help us bridge a very difficult gap. That and Martinez remaining with us and been given the opportunity to shape us as he wants.

Exciting times for Evertonians.

Build a team for the next ten years around him, Stones, Coleman, Oviedo, McCarthy and (hopefully) Lukaku.

Anyone know what's wrong with him btw? Injury or Tactical?

I like how Martinez is developing him, everytime I watch Barkley he reminds me of Mkhitaryan. In the near future he will probably destroy defences picking up the ball just past the centre circle and will take out 4 or 5 places with sheer pace and dribbling. He's already doing a lot of that right now, he's got counter attacking written all over him.

He needs to go to the WC period. England are the only international team who try the same thing again and again hoping to succeed. Lampard, Gerrard, Carrick etc. are finished, they're never going to win a WC, they are failed products at the international level, they are just not good enough. Barkley, Baines, Shaw, Gibbs, Wilshere, Chamberlain, Lallana etc. should be given a go this year.

Wouldn't read too much into it but he is in the promo shots for the new England away kit.
