Looked clumsy today, yes out of position but even when he drifted inside he looked off colour. Lukaku wasn't great either. Other than that thought we were class today, especially on the right. Alcaraz even played well and I'm still not sure he's good enough for us.

Took a hit for the team today, fair play.

Martinez sticking him on the left pushed our whole formation towards that side, leaving acres for Seamus and Kev to run riot.

Not many young players would be too happy to sacrifice their game like that.

Whilst stuff didn't come off for him, he never once hid from the ball and kept getting on it and trying to make stuff happen.

While the Young Player thing is all very nice, I suspect that what Ross would really like is a seat on the plane to Brazil. Martinez needs to use that : start him in all the remaining games, and tell him to go out and impress Hodgson.

Played out of posistion today and just did a job for the team...fair doo's

At times he's been by far the best young player this season, other times not so much but for his first season the kids done pretty awesome!

Didn't play well, can't pass the ball forward from deep positions. Also failed to drive the ball forward using his pace and power, which has worked for him previously in a game (forgot which) as a defensive midfielder.
Things will be better when Gibson and Oviedo is back such that we have 2 more choices for that position (Baines+Gibson)

He's played well from deep CM before where his passing and driving ruNs have still been evident.

Yesterday he played a left midfield roll pal. Pretty much a pienaar type roll albeit in a different formation.

Roberto commented after the game that Ross had played a very tactical role for the team: he blocked off Smalling / Jones on their right hand side and kept them from getting forward in order to allow Mirallas and Coleman to get at their left back - which worked fantastically well.

...epitimises things really. When Barkley was on loan Moyes told Neil Warnock that he couldn't be given a job that involved any responsibility. I have to say that when he played for England U16s he was an accident waiting to happen when played out wide. RM seems to have transformed that aspect. Clearly his best position is just behind the striker, but he needs to learn other parts the game.

He was very poor today and deservedly substituted. He just didn't show up for whatever reason. Didn't look much interested?

Maybe Roberto should wake him up in future before putting him on the pitch.
