For his first start at international level he was bright and pretty tidy. Maybe tries to take on too many, but his confidence is a positive. All in all pretty good stuff in a makeshift side.
Still think a 90k a week contract is too much.

In fairnes the dribbling was hte problem, and let's not brush over it, it was a problem.

But there were far worse. Lampard was awful and Wilshire wasn't too much better as DM, no protection to a shaky and disjointed back four. Other players gave the ball away more.

James Milner (who was played out of position so don't really blame him) had a 76% as did Lambert who I thought had a pretty good game despite not being all that great in possesion.

i bet gerrard's long punts show a better possession retainment?

keep him fresher and hungrier for us next season. not even supporting england but i still want our english players to have a good tournament, it wasn't ross' fault that he had to take on about 4/5 defenders on his own because wilshere and lampard didn't even move from their own half. can't remember him having better options available when he had to dribble past all those players at once.

Tactical decisions and selections there's plenty of problems I have with those.

Not too concerned about him pointing out that yes, Barkley lost it quite a bit when he was on the ball. He did alot right but the criticism wasn't misplaced.

Yeah, think with us not keeping the ball all that well, Barkley trying to take on people looks rash when he loses it. But it's his first start against international opposition and he still stands out as one of the better players.Roy probably just trying to dampen fanatical headlines tomorrow.
