Roy for me is the second worse manager England has ever had. Has literally done nothing apart from being a mid to lower leauge table manager got his shot at the big time at Liverpool and proved he couldn't handle it. Then some how got the England job. He is the most underwhelming manager to ever be appointed and you can tell the country feels the same way. By now we should be England mad! With flags, t shirts and people's cars looking like they've crashed through the first aisle of the asda. But there's nothing, no one care because we all know we are going to get knocked out in the group stages. He will play the same old crap of lampard, Gerrard and Wilshere even though we all know that they can't play together. Rooney will play even though he isn't worth a sausage at this level.

The young new talent with be thrown on with 10 minutes to go when we are 2-0 down. With the weight of the world on there shoulder try to hard and mess up and they will get the blame and the media hate campaign. Where Roy will probably get another 4 year deal.

You know what we had the English players to put out a really exciting side. That could gain valuable exsperiance that would benefit in the next competition. Instead it's going to be the same damm thing.

I agree, for once it could be that England have a genuine threat and real future world class stars. Add in a few others like Sterling, Stones, Sturridge, Shaw and Walcott and they have a nucleus of a very good attacking team for the next 10 years.
The problem is, when they try and force the issue and make things happen, if they lose it, it takes a while for them to get the ball back because the team wasn't functioning very well last night. A blend of the team that started against Peru and the team last night is a team that will keep the ball better and will give ample opportunity for Ross and Ox or Sterling to open up teams. I think Lambert is a pretty good foil for Barkley as well tbh.

Hodgson is way better than Schteve , Taylor and Keegan., he actually qualified for the world cup and did a good job in difficult circumstances at the euros.

People getting wound up for no reason here - it's Hodgson doing some unnecessary playing down of expectations. Anyone with a pair of eyes knows he was the best player on the pitch there.

Plus, it's England, not Everton, so who gives a toss. As long as our clubs manager is handling him right I'm not bothered in the slightest what Woy does for a few weeks.

Barely qualified for the world cup mate. In a group this England team should of walked.

What's this good job in the euros you speke of? Getting knocked out by the first decent team we came up against. Playing boring route one defensive football. Play for penalties against Italy from the first minute and we where lucky to get to penalties tbh. Not what I would of called a good job imo mate.

But that attitude is the exact thing that am talking about. Roy is so underwhelming that our ambition as a county has dropped to "we will have done well if we get out of the groups". It's pathetic.

Ross to start! "And we will be playing 4,4, fing 2.

Am not bothered by what Roy has said. I just really hate the fact that symbol playing chimp is our manager and think that we are going to see some boring and uncreative football when we have the players to see something special.

Taylor-Failure to qualify for USA 94
Keegan - Failure to get out of Euro 2000 group.
McLaren-Enough said.
Capello- abysmal showing at the last word cup.

All did a worse job than Hodgson has done so far.

Oh yeah I agree at the moment it's not the team to pick, like you say a mix of experience and youth is the better option now. To be honest I'm thinking of the next World Cup really, seems there a serious amount of talent coming through around the same age group and they need nurturing properly so they can reach their full potential.

I think even this World Cup, you take the best elements of last nights team and mix it with the functional, but not pretty team that beat Peru, you have an exciting side that will utilise the talents of game changing youngsters and it wouldn't give you heart palpitations at the back.
There is some very good young players about at the moment, but I'm not sure it's there in abundance as you say. I don't see very many full internationals in the u21s just yet, for instance. There's a nucleus of some very raw talents in the full squad at present though.

I know loads of people here disagree with roy but I actually agree,
no one was a stand out in that team yesterday we were poor, yes it maybe
was not the strongest x11 but a country like England should be hammering teams like this
no matter what, we really are crap. + they even messed my bet up ffs.

its his first start, showed some great skill yes, but he did also low hit a couple of passes
/failed runs, yes will come with experience and hes bound too be nervous first start an all that
but I think its actually good roys said it. honesty is needed [not saying he was bad like but ]

.. give him more games in that side and im sure heel be performing
better than most off them already

There's a difference between playing down expectations and being blatantly wrong. Hodgson's comments were definitely the latter.

However, as people have pointed out; who cares about England? It's all about Everton!

I do the Club season has finished and it's a World Cup, so yes mate I care about England, thanks.
