Lads, we are gonna keep him aren't we? Watching him turn these players inside out is great but listening to the excitement in Clive Tyldsley's voice worries me there's gonna be various interest in our superstar.

There is no chance we are going to sell him, i do hope he has a great world cup for sure because it will be good knowing we have a star player that is going nowhere. A few years ago there might of been a worry clubs might come in but that is southamptons problem not ours these days

Rooney put 4-5,000 onto our average home attendances. The publicity Barkley's getting could put the same onto next season's -- everyone a full house.

not being biased but Barkley should be playing the full 90 mins for England he is by far the only hope we have in that England team !!only a friendly like but that was predictably dreadful stuff from average so called English stars

True that mate, Barkley in his own way is a big part in the feel good factor around the club these days that Martinez started.

With Barkley at the ball you feel like something is going to happen, with a lot of the other players i seem to wait for the play to break down

Got to agree tbh.

Even tho I have not been his biggest fan this season Wiltshire also made a huge difference to that England side second half.

Gerrard looked an old man out there and Henderson was back to his average best.

But Ross...Jesus guys, hold onto your hats!!

Wonder how long till a comentator mutters the words " I don't know how long Everton will be able to hold onto this lad"

Crying shame Martinez didn't get to him earlier. I think people forget just how technically capable Leon Osman was on his day, he gave some masterclasses over the years, I love him. For a long time my favourite Everton player until Pienaar assumed the crown.

Osman's performance vs. Fiorentina hands down the best all-round midfield performance I've seen from someone in an Everton shirt. He was incredible. People mock his stature and everything, but I think what people fail to appreciate is how more impressive that makes him: everything he does has to rely on skill, technique, intelligence, vision, awareness, close control. I think he gets a worse deal than most because of his size not just from refs but our own fans; I've seen him get clearly fouled (or rather no less fouled than the current threshold) and hear a wave of arl arses at Goodison groaning 'FFS OSSIE'. It happens every time even if's entirely a team-mates fault and the ball is overrun or the defender has that extra yard, so what if Osman loses the 50/50s? Always seemed like a ridiculously unfair way to judge a player who, if he was accomodated for properly and given the ball sharp and into feet, could seriously rip teams apart.
Martinez clearly appreciates this fact and whilst it's harder than ever to give Osman the kind of role he needs to get the best out of him (not to mention his advancing years) he still finds a way because you shouldn't judge someone so supremely talented in the things that make football a joy to watch on the sort of vague rallying cries that echo across every pub league in the country - 'get stuck in', 'challenge for it', 'WIN DAT LAD'.

Listen, that part of the game is essential. But beyond the amount of effort you put in, it's just beyond a player's control how good he as at those things. McCarthy has an unbelieveable engine, can sustain a sprinting pace for a massive distance, is extremely powerful with a low centre of gravity and when he launches himself in there will only be one winner and I think it's easily forgotten that it's certainly not for lack of trying that Ossie doesn't emerge with the ball in such situations. In fact, I've seen his tenacity get rewarded against the odds. He bossed Yaya Toure in Yaya's first Goodison game when he scored the header winner a few years back. But what he can do when the ball is at his feet is so much better than how good his shoulder charge is. Martinez would have worked wonders with him back in 05-08
lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

We were buzzing when a scouse blue nose came through the ranks and was the world class player of his generation of the country he was born in. Then we sold him.

We'd be utter dickheads to have that luck not once but twice in barely the same generation and repeat the same trick.

My problem isn't with Ross wanting to leave, its those owning us. We need to keep pace with ambitions or we are in a rocky position when the day comes where a massive bid comes in and an agent turns his head.

But that shouldn't be for a while yet. England turned Rooney's head before so it makes me uneasy to see the bells bigging up Barkley too.

Different Everton to when Rooney left, but sadly the same owners who dont see a young blue living his dreams but a transfer kitty for the next few windows to appease the legions of blues who every season pay their money and give up their weekends in the hope that those wonderful boys in blue can make them forget all their troubles and utterly destroy the 11 clowns that dare to face Everton.

Never leave us Ross, PLEASE.

I hope he is only used as a sub at the world cup.

Any more hype and he'll either A) set the tournament alight ala Rooney and get sold or B) miss a penalty or get sent off and be the fall guy for another tournament ala Beckham, Southgate, Rooney, Seaman etc etc.

Nothing like being a blue to question your morality.

Boy does well in Brazil he's a superstar a bigger name globally than the club he loves.

He has a stinker, he's scapegoated by the red-tops and Daniel Taylor and we guarantee him for the season.

Never easy being a blue.

I suspect if Ross has a brilliant World Cup the media will decide a la Rooney he's too good for Everton and want him at a so-called 'bigger club'.

Now I know EFC is in a stronger position as a club than 2004, but sadly we still have the same ambitionless cash hungry owners.
