They have a means of catching up. Building their club the proper way through smart dealings in the transfer market, their youth program and slowly growing their fanbase over time which ultimately then allows them to increase their spending.

It's the big clubs and their history that built the name of world football in the first place.

I don't think nobody clubs should be able to simply buy a load of players and become the next Barcelona or Real Madrid just because some Shiek or Oil barron wanted to.

Think about this. Monaco averages 14K people a game and could realistically win the CL.

We need to get over the idea some sugar daddy is going to come in and buy us. It's not going to happen as we're too expensive and too well run. We would need to do a Liverpool and be days away from administration.

Few good points mate, but I do take exception with some of what you say.

Financial fair play is a joke and goes nowhere near to addressing what I and most others initially thought it would.

I can only guess how easy it is to be so analytical of how Everton is run from a position as a City supporter. I must say I am envious of the financial clout you guys have, however my admiration stops there. I'm surprised with your lack of empathy given your not so distant past.

With regards to Ross. Perhaps it is our mindset, as a poorly financially backed entity, that we think our home grown players should accept a certain amount per week for the honour of gracing our first team week in week out. (Something Barkley would struggle to do at City) Maybe our attitude would change given a billionaire owner. The fact is, based on what we have seen in the market for other English players, the selling price should be as much as we could get (maybe not 50m but definitely more than Shaw) and yes, morally the wages for a 19 year old who was only a squad player the season before last should be 15k per week with a rise to 50k a week maximum for a player of his age and experience being more than reasonable. (Youve already mentioned the ludicrous contracts given out after the Abu Dhabi take over)

Unfortunately the only thing pushing that up would be interest from one of the 'big boys' but if he needs reminded of the graveyard City has already been for young English up and comings and established players he need look no further than Sinclair, Johnston, Milner, Rodwell and even Lescott. That's not to say a move to another club would not work for him, i just hope he stays.

Again, no offence, i don't see that many City supporters about the place and the ones i do seem sound enough. After all, it's all about opinions.

I'm going to take serious exception to something you've posted there. Lescott, Barry, and Milner have all played KEY roles in EVERY trophy we've won since the takeover. They are/were important first team players. The fact is that Barry and Lescott are simply past it now. Milner played thirty odd league games last season. As for Sinclair, Johnson, and Rodwell. You're having a laugh right? First and foremost a player has to be good enough regardless of his nationality. Those three weren't so they are rightly binned. So when you say City is a "graveyard" for English players, what you mean is it's a graveyard for English players who aren't good enough. Ergo the young boy Barkley would do just fine at City.

Surprised you think I have a lack of empathy for your club. I'd say the exact opposite. The reason I'm on your forum and the reason I've enjoyed posting over the last 24 hours is because I feel at home because you're a sound bunch, just like we are. I said yesterday that reading the opinions of Barkley brought me straight back to the SWP transfer to Chelsea all those years ago. I'll never forget driving to see City play a friendly against Macclesfield Town, and seeing SWP pull up and then drive away 10 minutes later without getting out of his car. Then 20 minutes later City put out a statement saying he'd asked to leave. At the time it broke my heart that he'd asked to leave. I could understand Chelsea wanting him and I could understand him wanting to move. But he could've waited a year. Forcing the move that summer was painful to watch.

Anyway reading all the opinions on here I kind of hope City decide to sign someone else. I have a funny feeling I'd become most unwelcome pretty quickly if RB did end up moving to City next summer. ;)

I've probably been going since long before you were even a pornographic thought in your dads head judging by that post.

You don't need to come onto an internet forum and lie mate, There no point

Was it Robinho that sealed your support for Man City or was it a bit later than that

Not at all. City have good fans. You hit the lottery, we wish we did however none of that changes anything.

Barkley might be sold but only for a bid around 50m-60m which is what he's worth in our opinion and probably the club's opinion too when looking at the prices of similar players.

As for the whole argument that City is a graveyard and it reminds you of what happened to SWP. How exactly did that go for him at Chelsea?

It's not about giving us another year. We didn't sell Baines and he wanted to go as well. We sold Fellaini because they offered us enough money so that it made sense for us.
