For him to do his ligaments the day before the season opener makes me question what exactly he was doing in training?

Surely we should have been doing a light session, seems mad that he's now out for up to 5 months for a knee injury he got in training..
All it takes is to turn sharply, studs get caught in the turf, land funny etc. It doesnt take much.

Probably was a light session..I think sometimes this creates as many problems as full-blooded matches - you're never quite prepared for a slightly strong tackle as you are in a game.
One of them things, happens to players at every club...except the RS!

Think we just have to put it down to real bad luck. Was probably training the same way we always do but this time his knee goes. Good job it wasn't a forward or a centre half or we'd really be in the do do. He'll be back stronger than ever and hopefully we'll be doin so well, even he will have a fight on to get his place back.

What I think Martinez is saying is even if it is grade 2

We are going to have to be gentle with him this season

Or his knee might literally explode.

......that type of injury can happen doing a light session, indeed my initial thought was that it was probably non-contact. The pitches at FF are so firm, anchor your foot on the ground and the slightest side-on contact can cause ligament damage. They are professional athletes, much that this is a real blow they can't be wrapped in cotton wool.

It´s a crying shame anyhow. if you tried to find a plus it would be that at least he´ll be raring to go when he gets back.

These things happen. I sprain my ankle getting up too fast when I suddenly want rice krispies.
