A lot made of this "5 Month" injury .. worst case scenario injury this is! Can see him being out to mid-Oct if it really is just a partial tear

lets hope to god it is! Agree that a central attack minded midfielder is something we've always needed to keep Ross on his toes. Relying on Osman/Naisy to make those drives forward wont get us anywhere!!!

Martinez has clarified his comments, seems slighly more hopeful that it will the shorter time out although won't know until the next scans.

The club are unable to predict how long the England man will be out but initial assessments suggest he will be sidelined for two months. Blues boss Roberto Martinez, speaking immediately after Saturday’s 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium, sparked fears that Barkley could be out for five months saying: “We know there is a partial tear of the ligament and that could mean anything from seven weeks to four or five months, so we need to be cautious.”

But when asked later if he thought it was realistic that Barkley could be sidelined for the rest of the calendar year, Martinez replied: “No, we are going to be expecting the next set of scans as late as Wednesday or Thursday to make sure the inflammation is not in the knee.

“Medial ligament injuries could go from six weeks up to a longer period but it is not an injury that should rule him out for the season.”Martinez added: “Injuries and suspensions are part of the game. It’s not an advantage or a disadvantage. We all share the same problems.“It is important that we get Ross Barkley back fully fit as quickly as we can because September is going to be a very busy month and without Ross it is going to put more pressure and strains on other players.”

Osman and Naismith just cant be our solution to this problem if it is long term. A deal for Cleverley could be on the cards. We could bloody do with it now.

Osman, Naismith and Miralass all options to play there and all different types of players. Bobby will not buy to cover this posistion. You couldn't buy a like 4 like Ross clone anyway, he's unique! All being well Ross will be back soon enough.

The papers always exaggerates these comments and it's good to hear they're expecting Barkley to be back a lot faster than the 5 months mentioned. And i like what martinez said “We will probably have to add to the squad because of the numbers situation but overall I’m pretty satisfied with who we have. ”

That means we can expect more players coming in then.
There is so much good news in Martinez's comments there. Judging by the state of this forum the past 48 HOURS we needed some good news to retain our sanity.

Apparently Atsu can play there, Pienaar at a push, I'd like to see some genuine cover, but depending what's left in the warchest we do need another striker, and theres defo an argument to be made for an RB, maybe just loan it right up on deadline day.

I was so itching to see Ross play though, he would have had them relegation munchers on toast

Was Arsenal I was most looking forward to, in his limited career they are a team he's always played well against. Hopefully will make up for lost time at the Emirates in Feb.
