Yes mate, that's how it works, however I don't know how that means Barkley has done anything wrong. The club is free to dispose of the asset if they wish, just as Barkley is free to negotiate terms for his employment if he wishes.

I personally couldn't care less whether Barkley stays or whether he goes. I think he's gone backwards as a player since 2014, when he played at the emirates in the 2012/2013 season he was brilliant. He set up attacks and showed awareness of his surroundings on the pitch, winning free kicks and getting in the right positions. When he then became a regular in the first team in the 2013/2014 season he got better and better, just look at his goals against Norwich and Newcastle that season. Nowadays he just doesn't seem to know what he is doing, he constantly loses the ball, shoots when he should shoot, doesn't shoot when he should shoot and continually runs in to players. I just don't see any evidence of him improving, in the same way we see players like Lukaku, Holgate and Davies improving, although all were poor today. If he stays we'll support him, if he leaves we'll wish him the best of luck.

Dont know how to feel if he signs now tbh. Clearly any delay is down to him/agent putting the feelers out to see if he can get 'better' than Everton. If he is to sign a new deal no one better than us has got in touch, it leaves a shitty taste in your mouth.

He hires an agent to negotiate for him.
If he says anything, he compromises his agents job to get the best terms for him.
Lukaku constantly refers to Raiola - nobody bats an eyelid at that. Barkley is actually more professional than Lukaku by maintaining radio silence and everyone goes berserk at him.
He's done nothing wrong whatsoever. He's been smart. I think that's what has upset people, because they think he's thick and expect him to blindly love playing for the club whatever they pay him.
How is that 'clearly' what's happened? It's not even likely.
