Ross Barkley

Will be glad when the whole Barkley (and Lukaku) circus have left town.

With Barkley though, sadly I think this is only the start.

Even if he gets transfer listed tomorrow as I expect, Tottenham or whoever arent exactly going to rush in with a bid.

I suspect Barkley will still be hanging around like a bad smell when pre-season begins. If that is the case, we must not let it affect our start to the season or the Europa League qualifiers. Even if it means he doesn't have a squad number and is forced to train with the kids.

Why? Do you not like having good players wearing our colours or something?

With respect Dave, that's nonsense.

Suggesting that the board, in effect, go behind the managers back is ridiculous.

Whether you like it or not, and you patently don't and that's a position you're entitled to take, Koeman is the manager and if he feels the current offer is fair/good enough and the player chooses not to sign it then the club is surely undermining the manager if they do as you suggest.

How many of the board have played professional football and actually managed teams - None.
Koeman played, spectacularly, and has managed.
The board have to trust the manager and the DoF, they're only 12 months into their respective contracts and have achieved an improvement.

Granted, there's still a lot of hard, hard work to be done and a long, long way still to go before we can claim to be 'back among the big boys' but, we have made the first tentative steps along the road.
This..Plus the fact that Koeman stated early in the season that he doesn't get involved in the details of players contracts . So Barkley's contract terms have been drawn up by the board anyway.

Please please dont sign ross. Just nowhere near good enough for where we want to be. I ll be gutted if he stays. We can get far better in that position.dont think ron rates him and i can see why !

I dont understand that stance that the manager has the final word or it's undermining him. Isn't that why they hired another level of management to make sure continuity of policy overrides managerial whim? That's what this DoF post is designed for. In any case, how many times under Moyes did we see players sold under his nose?

Who should we get that's better mate?

Please don't say Siggurdsson.

Koeman himself said he doesn't get involved with negotiations and it's left to the Board and Steve Walsh. Stop the nonsense Dave.
Well doesn't that underline the validity of my proposed route for negotiations? If he plays no part WTF does it matter if he's here or not?

Selling is one thing, that's business and may be necessary for the financial state of the business.

Further negotiating on an already improved contract offer in the manner you suggest is barking mad... unless the manager and/or DoF are in full and total agreement.

If he wants to be in the World Cup group next summer he has no other choice that to sign the contract...and I am sure his ambition to play World Cup football is bigger than potential champions league...so no surprise there if as expected he has signed

I chortle a bit when I hear about any Everton manager having the final say on transfer strategy and player sales. Everton's board and officer class provide the parameters that our manager's stay within. That's why they've all been handsomely remunerated. They do what they're told, basically. The "outspoken" Koeman included.

They can have latitude to do certain things but any massive financial loss - as per playing silly buggers with Barkley and losing millions in a sale - wont be tolerated. We just cant afford that.

You slated moyes for years for not having the stones to call out Kenwright for his asset stripping and lack of funds. But the minute Koeman did it you called him out and said he was bang out of order. Illogical and agenda driven.

Koeman hasn't done it. Neither did Martinez. They're all lackeys. All of them.
