Ross Barkley

Koeman misinterpreted, apparently. Said he'd speak to the board today, not an announcement.

He said "statement tomorrow" in English, not Dutch.

He and his artificial deadlines have been told to do one by the board who actually deal with the matter I reckon. Which is actually a relief as it would mean the club aren't being idiots and it's just Koeman's ego.

Why just Ross? We don't expect a play by play on contract negotiations with other players.

Hell doesn't everyone get annoyed with Rom for being open about it? It's a double standard of spurned fans that was entirely unnecessary, but was created by Koeman going public.
It would be different if Roma contract was up next summer. Which it is not. I'm sure we'll see Lukaku going soon but at least the club shouldn't need to drop their asking price because they're worried hell leave for tribunal fee alone.

Mirallas' contract was up next year as well. Koeman didn't say a word about it - Mirallas only signed the other week. Yet he's been banging on about Barkley since March.

he must be leaving and the board are preparing the statement that deflects the blame to ross and his agent.

Swap deal with Swansea for Gifi

He can get impatient all he wants; it doesn't matter. He should check his ego about it at the door before going into a press conference and blabbing to the public about a private matter and hanging one of his players out to dry. And that has happened - check a few responses on here to see the end result, or go on Twitter if you really want to see the end result of Koeman's actions.

"Contract matters are dealt with internally by the club, it's a club business matter - I won't be making any comment about any player."

That's where Koeman's input in press conferences should begin and end when it comes to contracts.

As an aside, talks only started mid-March. Two months ago. That's not a lot of time. You should be more annoyed at the club than Barkley for leaving it so late.

Ok, despite essentially entering the period when his value is decreasing, he still has not had the courtesy to inform the manager of his decision. This despite the fact we have an early start next season. Do you accept the manager has every right to recruit players for his position? , and therefore effectively put Barkley on the market, because I do, andwould expect no less.
I don't know about constructive dismissal it's more like constructive resignation.

Yes. Obviously, yes. The club has every right to sell Barkley at their own discretion if the asset is in danger of being devalued. Indeed, they should. Barkley should be sold this summer if he doesn't sign.

But that really isn't the issue - the issue is Koeman hanging him out to dry in public. It's a completely different matter.

That may well be the outcome, but it will happen on the clubs terms, an at their time of choosing.

As it should. And if they did it professionally and privately like everyone else, and weirdly like we do with any other player, you wouldn't hear a peep from me. Indeed, if Barkley doesn't sign a contract, I'd be livid if we let him run it down - we should clearly sell this summer.

Again, not the issue. I'm not concerned about Barkley going; I'm concerned at how Koeman has gone about doing it, and by proxy the club, because it's amateur hour stuff.
