Ross Barkley

It would be different if Roma contract was up next summer. Which it is not. I'm sure we'll see Lukaku going soon but at least the club shouldn't need to drop their asking price because they're worried hell leave for tribunal fee alone.

Then they should have offered him a new contract 12 months ago, like they should with anyone who has any kind of resell value.

Mirallas' contract was up next year as well. Koeman didn't say a word about it - Mirallas only signed the other week. Yet he's been banging on about Barkley since March.
Mirallas is a key player now?

Ross is 23 and has started what, 10 more games this season?

Mirallas is a 29 year old who's resale value and importance to the team is significantly less. Or are you suggesting otherwise?

I don't think he starts every interview or press conference with this is the situation with Ross, he gets asked what's happening and he is too honest/stupid (delete as appropriate) to say no comment or something like we are working on it.

I do hold the opinion that Koeman is unsure if Ross can do what he wants a player to do in that position so he isn't arsed what happens. So from that point of view Ross is not going to be begged to stay but perhaps that is a good thing. Knuckle down and get better or jog on. But I also agree it is a shame if we lose a player of that potential, just like Gerry, I don't think we will get to see those mercurial talent type players while Ron is in charge.
He's too busy doing his "I'm the outspoken Dutch football manager" routine. He's high on it and the more the craven Echo and fans lap it up the more of a loose cannon he'll be.

I wouldn't mind if he was one of those successful Dutch managers like Hiddink or LVG or Rijkard...but our one is a no mark one and has no credibility putting on the big I am routine.

Mirallas is/was a £70k per week asset, on more than Barkley, a member of the first team squad just like Barkley. It's not like I'm comparing a random youth player to Barkley is it?

Koeman didn't say a word about Mirallas, yet voluntarily banged on about Barkley, over and over and over again. If he were consistent, he could have replied with, "yes, we've got a few players we're going to sit down and talk to, Ross is one, Kevin another - they'll need to sign by the last game of the season or we're getting rid lads LOL!"

Or, you know, simply shut up about anything and everything to do with player contracts altogether, as very clearly should have been the case.

You do realize that as a player he was literally one of the best EVER. Give him a chance. He's a true winner, and this is his first stint with money where he can actually build a team in his vision.

Martinez took two steps backwards. Koemans done well to have us back where we were before the Spaniard came in. I for one am willing to wait and see how this plays out.

I dont care what he did as a player. He's won zero for a decade as a manager and prior to that his successes weren't top notch trophies they were parochial BS in Holland for the most part.

Employer offers employee new and improved contract, yet it's the employer who is at fault for wanting an answer

Faultless logic

Best not to try and judge how footballers are treated compared to the normal employee. For instance I guess if you want to change jobs you hand in your notice and walk .

Some absolute beut's on here.one poster using an ex-players comments to suit his own agenda another showing sympathy towards ross for stalling on signing a new contract, this being the same ross that already earns more in one year than most on here earn in there life time. And another slating ron for putting the club before poor hard done to ross. Man-up you jessie's

I wouldn't want Maradona as a manager mate, for obvious reasons. Player greatness means the square sum of nothing when it comes to management.

That said, generally alright with Koeman so far. He's got a passing grade here. But his managerial track record is merely "OK" overall too.

I know mate. Shame on Ross. He should be happy working for a handshake, it's Everton ffs the ungrateful little swine. How dare he ask for a wage that he feels is deserving of his talents in comparison to his working peers.

NSNO. In Moyes We Trust.
