Ross Barkley

The newspapers online will begin to release Barkley stories in a couple of hours or so, so we should get some inkling soon!

The reverse can be argued: he doesn't know how to get in the mind of average-to-good players and cant understand why they cant make a key pass/interception
Well neither could Martinez, maybe it is because of the 'tools' they are working with. They (the players) don't have the skill levels to implement what is asked of them. I'd rather koeman striving for perfection and not getting it, then not aiming for it at all.

What is the whole "embargo" process. We don't have anything like it in the states that I am aware of.

Clubs state when news can and can't be released and at what time.

The embargo time is usually 10:30pm as that's for the following day's papers. Usually, if there's a line or a story worth publishing earlier (usually for online) - then some reporters will agree to a separate time. For example, when Koeman does his press conference, he will do the televised one and will then break away for the papers jut after. This is the 10:30 embargo BUT if he says something like "Coleman is coming along in his recovery quicker than usual" then they will say between each other "Alright, we're publishing this at X o'clock" before the big story, usually the topic of the day - i.e. this week it has been Barkley - but say in January it's a transfer rumour.

Thanks for the explanation.

I predict news stories tonight along the lines of 'Ross Barkley is refusing to commit to Everton amid interest from Jose Mourinho' and I predict Wayne Rooney will be mentioned too.

If there's an embargo tonight:

"Barkley is said to still be weighing up his options amid interest from Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur but the Everton board want to tie the 23-year-old down to a new, bumper four-year-deal."
