the lack of statement from the club, especially following Koeman's post match comments on Sunday suggests to me the club and Ross's people are having (hopefully positive) talks trying to resolve the situation. If it was as simple as he wants to go i think we'd know by now.
Exactly my point. He is lobbying for a contract. We have time till the window opens anyway. This will get sorted one way or another

That's not being decisive. That is publicly using words to pressure a player to sign a contract the the player (Ross Barkley) didn't deem satisfactory. For all we know they low-balled the hell out of him. Ross hasn't said he intends to leave the club which tells me he is seeking a better deal which is fine.
It's absolutely being decisive. He's made the decision to let the fans know the current situation without sugar-coating it. He's not putting pressure on him to sign because he's openly said if Ross doesn't sign then that's fine, we will seek a replacement. Yeah Ross hasn't said he intends to leave but he hasn't said anything to the contrary either.

I love Ross and want him to stay. But I'm not blaming Koeman for being honest about the situation when he is asked about it every presser.

What is so wrong with wanting a decision so that the transfer plans can be sorted out in plenty of time for the window opening? Seems pretty clear to me - the contract has been there for a while now, are you signing it or not? Is that so wrong?

He is lobbying for a better deal. They will probably end up meeting somewhere in the middle

Do you have a link to that?

All I can find is 1st July.

Within 7 days of the first Saturday in May, or the date of the last competitive Match of the Club’s first team, whichever is the later, the Club must give notice in writing to the Player indicating that either the Club offers a re-engagement or, if appropriate, exercises any option contained in the agreement.
