Ross Barkley

Ross is torn right now. Spurs right now are what we will be in two years. Does Ross wait that time and spend it with the club he grew up supporting and no doubt loves, or does he save two years of his career and move to Spurs?

There is also the risk that he loses his place in the starting eleven. I feel for him really.

I'm convinced he's off now. He would've signed that new contract by now if he really wanted to stay. I'm sure Bill will have offered him a fine contract but he's not productive enough and nowhere near consistent enough to become one of our top earners, second tier at best. He's not irreplaceable, so I wish him all the best for the future.

You were suggesting he would flourish in high pressure games. Where's the facts to back that up? Look at our record in the so-called pressure games - being kind it's abysmal, being honest if atrocious. None of the current crop including Ross have shown any inkling that they can thrive in big pressure games. The Derby for Spurs isn't twice a year... they play Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham, all of which are considered derbies.
I want Ross to stay but like many I think the Club have offered him what he's currently worth plus a premium and that's the biggest contract EVER offered to an Everton player. Being honest he wouldn't feature in an all time top 20'Everton players so I think the offer is exceedingly good. If it's not enough for him then for me Koeman and the Board are taking exactly the right step.
I assume those slating the Club may well change tack if he turns down the contract, hangs around for another 12 months because nobody values him at the quoted price and wage demand, and then slopes off on a free....I can hear the fume now.

I suggested no such thing. I said other players in England play in those type of games and he would like a piece of that. Where did I say he would flourish?

I don't feel for any premier league professional football player. I'd swap problems with pretty much any of them.

He should count his blessings he plays football for the team he grew up supporting and is handsomely rewarded.

Also what I think is that Barkley has been enjoying the homeboy treatment in previous seasons and Koeman has been much more candid with him. No more "I'm a young player and so I'm inconsistent" crap anymore. And the club should also play hard ball, there is no extra payrise just because you are a homegrown player, sorry. He is well aware of what he could lose if he doesn't sign for us, but he has to know if he really wants to take up the risk to change clubs. I, for one, am pretty convinced he would be far from a first team player at e.g. Spurs or any other Champions League club for that matter. Ross enjoys a special role at this club and he would have to toughen up right away at another club and I think he's mentally too fragile to be able to assert himself elsewhere.

He may as well have kissed the Liverpool badge at the alter of an Evertonian's funeral for what he has done is so disgusting. How dare he even consider leaving this great mighty wonderful club.

If he leaves then he's a money grabbing Judas.

Just who do you think you are Ross?
