Ross Barkley

Well the previous coach shares blame too for massaging the ego of the player so much that some discipline became too much for the poor lad.
Nonsense. He took Barkley from being a wreck under Moyes - farmed out to Championship rubbish - and into the England squad.

Some absolute tosh spoken about that relationship. We're going to get a decent fee this summer off Barkley (not that he should be getting sold) which should have been a kings ransom if this Dutchman had been less of a bungler and had him sign a new contract early in the season before he sickened him.

It's not looking good. Barkley probably doesn't take kindly to the fact that Koeman sees him as replaceable. It also doesn't help that the World Cup is around the corner and Barkley feels like he has a point to prove to the England manager.
Aye, despite all the grief he got from Hodgson and media when playing for England he clearly wants back in the side - seeing Stones regularly picked as well probably rubs salt into the wound as well.

I am sure we are all clear, really, but Ross doesn't have to leave or sign this summer. His contract runs until next summer, when if he wishes, he can leave on a Bosman. As far as I know, he could sue the club for breach of contact if his earnings were reduced due to being played in the U23s. (Bosman did.) Of course, playing him in the reserves would also be a poor use of club resources. A Bosman move would mean that he would have to move to another league, I think, because the existing practices were judged to be a restraint of trade relating to free movement.

Good points, Ross lid.

The only Everton player to be allowed to leave on a Bosman was Gosling as we thought he was crocked - he has done better than Rodwell who also had a bad back injury - Everton will sell for the right price of he signs a new contract if no ultimatums had been given this issue may have been less hostile - I will wish him every success if he stays or moves on 23 years old with lots more to come from him imo!

You are obsessed with the word ultimatum. Ronald said exactly what would happen if Ross didn't sign a contract. No more,No less

The real reason for that sale has never really been explained has it? Plenty of theories, but iirc, no definitive single reason.
At the time it was strongly rumoured that Ball asked for a transfer to clear gambling debts with his signing on fee. I stress it was a rumour and never proven.
