Barkley killed most attacks we made by taking 10 touches and playing it sideways

Watched a different game to me. Thought he ran the game and hit some lovely passes. If he keeps developing at this rate the sky is the limit for the lad. Compare him to someone like lampard at the same age and Barkley is way ahead of him in every department.

Agree, though at times he did dawdle perhaps a second too long on the ball. But fans seem to get on his back so easily. It's ridiculous, especially since he's one of the best talents we've had in ages.

It's something he can learn. Players like scholes used to look around for the space before they received the ball and generally knew where his next pass was going. Barkley can easily add that to his game. His touch and upper body strength are fantastic. Not many players in the league have the amount of time on the ball that he has in the final third.

Lampard was a freak of nature m, scoring 15+ goals a season. Would love Ross to hit the same level as him.

At his peak he was hitting 15+ league goals a season but he only did that on three occassions in a very dominant Chelsea team in which he took all the penalties (even if Ross did take pens this wouldn't add to his tally since we never win any) and free kicks. Ross is playing incredibly well and developing all the time.

Not twice the player but definitely better. Lampard was still at West Ham, scored 7 in 38 and had one England cap. Ross is more talented in every area of the game bar heading although what Lampard did was make the most of his talents by dedication, professionalism and an ability to learn. His mentality was superb. If Ross has the same attitude (big if) and is lucky with injuries (Frank was a machine in this regard) he will be better than Frank as he had more talent.

He's technically brilliant but his decision making is his biggest weakness, until he learns to consistently move the ball faster he won't hit his potential.
