Ross Barkley

Koeman has had a shocker here not only in how he's dealt with it since May and refuses to answer questions but how he singled out Ross almost monthly last season

Yet Stek who's obviously koemans mate and Robles who were far worse than Ross were never publically humiliated. Ross was singled out

Koeman saw how Martinez treated Barkley, and knew it had no effect. Koeman went to the other end of the spectrum, and it did improve his performances at times.

I think what Koeman did do wrong, was give him an ultimatum over his contract in the media. However if he has left Barkley out of this tour because he hasn't signed the contract, I'm all for it.

Robles made one mistake singled out dropped the Stek was always injured when he lost his place - it looks like a common denominator that Robles, and Ross look very much like they are leaving both not liking their contracts, and the criticism thsy received or his actions from RK -- if they do leave I wish them all the best in their future careers respectively!
Both had good seasons imo better than other players in thier positions who nothing was said when they played badly!

That's basically it

Everton clearly want a decent fee, not many clubs believe he is worth it, and know that come deadline day they will be able to offer a low fee and no doubt get him as we will be desperate to sell.

He's only got one year left on his contract. Of course that's what other clubs are going to do. Hardly our fault is it.

It's a mess. I think it's down to a bloody minded manager and a player who's frail, character-wise, to stand up to the atmosphere and crack on.

I've said before that Koeman attacks weak characters, and the Barkley situation underlines it.

Disagree

Edit: I should have said I agree it's a mess, but not down to the manager imo

If he does not sign the contract offer, then it is Barkley who is in the wrong. How this is Koeman's fault is a mystery. Not like he isn't being offered a king's ransom to play for the club "he loves" - Koeman factually answered a question, I guess he regrets answering, if he does not sign a contract what will happen? Answer, we will sell him (otherwise he goes for free and we are not that stupid).

So where does the "fault" lie - an honest answer from Koeman or an absent signature from Barkley. no player is bigger than the club, he does not sign this new lucrative contract, then off he goes. Simple.

And before anyone chooses to call it on my behalf, I think Barkley could be a fantastic player for us, but currently I think he has been too inconsistent. This current stand off is all Barkley's fault, he, his agent and everyone else knows that in the last year of a contract, you sign anew (on better terms usually) or you are sold. This is modern day football.

Who's fault is it then? Perhaps if we'd have sorted this out last summer rather than allowing a player touted as one of the best English talents to go into the season with less than two years remaining, we'd never have this issue

If Ross had sense he'll know Koeman won't be around for more than another 2 seasons max realistically, If he's a true blue stay and fight for your place. If not then pack your bags and go.

Exact same contract situation happened last time with Ross, with a different manager, different owner, same agent though.

See the common denominator there?

I hate this situation. I don't even know whose fault it is since we don't know what contract Barkley has been offered. If we only offered like 60k-70k, that's a bit of a slap in the face. If it's £75k or more, Barkley should have probably signed already. Regardless, if deadline day passes and Barkley is still here without signing a new contract, Everton will have screwed themselves out of a ton of money. That's not good for the club. I just want it done one way or another.

It's hard because we don't know what Barkley wants. Before this spending spree I would have said Barkley wanted to stay and was just pushing for a little more money. Now I'm not so sure since his playing time will probably be cut in half, even with the extra European games.
