Ross Barkley

Nobody actually beating our door down to sign the lad. Price is a joke obviously but you think someone would put in a cheeky bid.

I'd be interested to know how the contract offer compares with the rest of the squad.

I'm a big fan of Ross, but both Gana & Schneiderlin came in last season & showed real consistency & value to the team. Probably what Koeman calls productivity. They do their job, no fuss, nothing flash, minimal mistakes. On the other hand, Barkley does a few flash things, looks brilliant, but then too often loses the ball. Should Ross be paid more than Gana & Scneiderlin? I would say no.

The emergence of Tom Davies should be another reminder to him. He may not have some of Ross' abilities, but his work rate & intelligence, quick feet, I would say he was possibly showing more value to the team than Ross.

With Klaassen coming in too, I can totally understand the club's take-it-or-leave-it approach. IMHO, he should sign it & get his head down, get back on track. Everton are moving forward with or without him.

None of them can get behind a defence. No pace there whatsoever. Also, Klaassen, Rooney and Sigu (if he is signed) would be very similar in style.

Here's my pick to add some pace and mobility from CM. I am biased on Besic I would give you that.

Pickford
Coleman Williams Keane Baines
Schneiderlin/Gueye
Klaassen Besic/Davies Barkley/Mirallas
Rooney Sandro

we'll get behind teams with our quickness of passing, they won't be able to live with us. So they'll just hack us down at every attempt. Then gylfi will either whip it in the top corner or right on giroud's nonce. I think we need to buy another striker who guarantees goals on top of rooney and sandro myself, them two and calvert-lewin aren't going to fire us to top 4.

There is no way in a million years Sandro is sitting on the bench just so we can have a striker on the bench.

Hes starting most matches, and hes too good not to.

he may start the season on the bench given that he's young and new to the league imo, purely because all the other attackers we're seemingly going to buy/have bought are used to the league ... and more experienced. Slowly easing him in to adapt, i wouldn't be surprised if that happens, half way through the season he'll probably be a regular.

Don't agree with that. Probably our most consistent attack in the last 10 years was when we had Pienaar. No pace, not a winger, but he'd do a little jink inside, draw the fullback & lay it on for Baines to cross.

Out & out wingers leave you light in the middle & can limit your wing backs.

Can't understand why he'd want to leave now. He's a Blue and for the first time in his life probably we are looking like we are starting to challenge again.

I think he's a great player and hope he stays. Him and Rooney should be the heart of the team.

Will be squeaky bum time for Ross if/when we sign Gylfi. Really sends the message 'You're not needed' to him and the doors aren't being smashed down to get him.
Reckon we'll see an end to this saga, one way or the other, this week

It'd be crazy for him to leave now. Pressure would be off for sure. Plenty of quality to play alongside him, it's not all on his shoulders.

Sign.the.deal.

That is the key word there. We do not have any wing backs mate. Coleman is injured and Baines isn't what he was with Pienaar anymore.

You need wingers to draw the defenders away using their pace and trickery, esp when teams sit back against us at Goodison. Imagine teams packing 8 or 9 men near their box, will we still play the 65 to 70 M of attacking players just cos we bought them for a hefty sum? Klaassen and Sigu in the same team will be counter productive. Pace is after all pace and it will always have value.
