In fairness Steve from what I remember of your Ross musings, they could be more easily placed in the "slating" bin rather than "even-handed appraisal bin".

In general though, there are an incredible amount of posters over-criticising players across the various threads. There are a few absolutely crackpoint viewpoints being posited.

It used to be just the handful laying into Osman at every chance, or Tubey being wrong about Rom, but now it´s everywhere.

Its difficult sometimes to separate criticism from slating, I agree...to me the 'slating(?) of Howard ,Osman and now Kone is over the top at present...all have contributed to good performances this season...Osman for an hour at City proved his worth, Howard in the 0-0 had his best game for a while, and Kones hold up play is amongst the best at the club. Last season the whole team was mostly poor...Martinez took a while to get over Chelsea scoring 6 at GP and the players became edgy. Support at the ground should always, or most of the time, encourage the players, but t'internet has encouraged people to say outrageous things with no fear of reprisal, hence the over enthusiastic 'slating' of players and manager. It used to be a lot simpler! Still think Ross was not worth many starts last season, but he is for the most part on song this season.!

If based on stats alone this season, Barkley is legit. He definitely has some areas that he can improve in, but he is already a very good player at 22 years old. If he can improve on decision making and become a more complete midfielder, he will be great.
