Ross Barkley

I desperately want him to succeed but 2 major things stuck out like a sore thumb today, he looks overweight/unfit and his decision making is atrocious. He's as we like to call him a 'diamond' in the rough, but needs the right mentoring.

Well why not?

He could at least put a player under pressure now & again. Make nuisance value. Instead he watches as they freely pass him by, totally unhindered.

At least twice he was less than 3 yds from Fellaini. I could see the ball would end up with Fellaini but Ross just stood there watching the ball get knocked about. When it arrived at Fellaini's feet Barkley didn't even move.

Not. An. Inch.

And that happened at least twice, like I said. There's no excuse for that.

...

OK, sure. I guess you also moan at Jagielka for not doing stepovers then?

And when Fellaini was here that was what he did, ambled around as though it was a practice match, must be contagious.

Shame Cleverly wasn't because he did f all else. Not sure why you'd want Barkley on the left wing either. Nice dig at our brightest talent though.
so happy you enjoyed ross's performance. God if we ever signed a player like marcial you would be a walking jizz bomb.

In my opinion we are being overrun in central area of midfield almost every game. So easy for our opponents to get close to our penalty are. You need to defend with your whole team. We are defending with 2 players not taking a part.

Ross will be a top top player, but Martinez is the wrong manager for him right now. He needs to be told when he is making bad decisions not told you are phenomenall. He needs directon and there is nobody at the club right now to give him that, not a coach or a player.

Oh ffs talk sense man. I'm not criticising him for the sake of it. If he's gonna stand there like one in Lewis's then he's gonna get criticised....And justifiably so.

Seems it to me, given you're criticising a playmaker for not being an elite defender.

When I read stuff like this, all I can think is Evertonians don't deserve nice things.

We play two defensive midfielders, yet you want our ONE creative attacking mid to be a headless chicken. Weird to me.

Again, we have two defensive midfielders.

If you want to criticise people for being overrun in midfield, look no further than Mr. Anonymous James McCarthy, who isn't doing his job.

You're absolutely wrong to blame Barkley for the job of other people in the team. It's just a basic lack of footballing understanding.

Wrong. I'm criticising him for not even moving a couple of yards to even make a player think twice. A basic that even the fat kid in PE does.

Because that's not his job. If we played one holding midfielder and a box to box player, yes, he's need to defend more proactively.

As it is, his job is to drift into space and be an offensive player almost totally.

In the system we're in, he's not a "Dog of War", so stop judging him as one.
