Ross Barkley

...

You've made a pre-determined view of Barkley that uses no logic, so no point continuing this.

What?

Tell you what - we'll let barkley stand around all afternoon with his thumb up his arse until the ball comes to him and he can lose possession so the rest of them can all win it for him again....

It's not his fault, like

so happy you enjoyed ross's performance. God if we ever signed a player like marcial you would be a walking jizz bomb.

I didn't enjoy anything about today. You're happy to judge a player on one game. Good for you. You can address my points in your free time.

Rooney isn't Barkley. He's a ratter, a driving force of energy combined with tremendous technique. Rooney is more like Gerrard in that role than he is Barkley.

Barkley does not need to do anything defensively. It'd be not playing to his strengths. It'd be akin to asking a prime Berbatov or Ibrahimovic to sprint around for 90 minutes; it wouldn't make sense.

I see Barkley as a Gerrard tho. He's certainly not like Ibra. As I said I agree he needs to concentrate on his offensive duties, but he certainly can add more intensity. In his first 3 months under Roberto, he hunted the ball down like a man possessed.

Again, we have two defensive midfielders.

If you want to criticise people for being overrun in midfield, look no further than Mr. Anonymous James McCarthy, who isn't doing his job.

You're absolutely wrong to blame Barkley for the job of other people in the team. It's just a basic lack of footballing understanding.
McCarthy is even bigger problem than Barkley, true. But Ross needs to help the team defending as well, we need to defend as a unit with every player taking part, we defend only as individuals. Especially at times when if he would actually run, he could quite easily put pressure on his opponent.

If they've got someone paid to knock nails in instead as part of their team, then no, he shouldn't.

Right, so he waits for them to do it, does he?

And while he's waiting, the roof caves in because the wooden beam holding it up fell over because nobody was available to knock the nails in.

There's no need. Theoretically.

What should happen is that if an opposition DM steps forward, one of our DMs should step forward to press, one drops and one centre half steps up too.

It's not Barkley's fault that his teammates who are paid to defend don't do it properly. That is the fault of a manager who has proven for nearly a decade that he does not known how to set up a team to defend.

Barkley is the easy scapegoat when things are going badly, because he's not a ratter type of player. When we're struggling, Evertonians tend to love a Stracqualursi rather than genuine class - as long as they run, they're trying - this is just that situation again.

The analogy is stupid. I'm assuming eleven people are working on the job. In that instance, if someone is paid to knock the nails in and they are stood next to the electrician, then they should knock the nails in, not the electrician.

Because it's not his job.

If Barkley was the only player on the pitch, he would have to defend as well wouldn't he?
