Ross Barkley

Let's drop one of the young players of the year and full England international for some ressie because he doesn't Gravesen.

Sounds legit.

If he didn't run to the corner flag in the first half an hour at least 5 times he'd get the Barkley treatment n all.

WTF is your major malfunction?

Nobody's saying that's the player he MUST become, but it'd be nice to see him mix it a bit, and stop allowing players go past him.

Again, why? Personally, I'm happy with a marker moving out of position with the ball towards our two holding midfielder, because if he's dispossessed then Barkley is in space isn't he?

Instead of, you know, in no man's land in our own half.

Worth a thought maybe?

Our entire team was though.

Yeah but Ross gets away with the 'local lad' title so often. He deserves the criticism when he goes missing in big games that he should be thriving in.

Either way doesn't make him a sh1thouse mate

My other quote I put about him going missing does.

Won a pen and was generally fine in attack. It's simply adding a little bit of intensity and hunger off the ball. It's not a huge issue. Our lack of pressing is a collective issue not just Ross.

He won that pen cos of a bad tackle, had the defender stayed on his feet he'd have done the usual and passed it backwards or sideways.

Surely you develop that with experience and age.
How old is he? Compare him to someone the same age, playing for his boyhood club and the responsibility that brings. Who is that player who you are comparing him to who is so much better?

He's been around for a few seasons now, we don't need to compare him to anyone else. He's one of our more senior players in this squad and goes missing a lot.

I do think another manager will get the best out of him but he needs to take a portion of the blame himself for not performing. The barrier which is put up to protect Ross by our fans for the 'diamond' title should also be used to criticise him when he doesn't turn up.

The issue is when theres a player not 5 yards from him and he still doesn't press, ever. H lets them have a free run at our dms, so they either get swamped out or one of them has to step out and leave the gaps. No ones saying run around like a headless chicken, just at certain times do a bit of the dirty side.
