Ross Barkley

It's all about the new kid on the block, Alli, now.

Alli is better than Barkley imo. Lallana, Sterling, Henderson, Milner aren't... and neither is an unfit wilshere who has played 1 friggin match all season. They will all get in the squad ahead of him. It's an absolute joke, no two ways about it... especially as barkley has the best stats of any english midfielder this season.

...suspect it's more the manager having a look at likely projects for being left out of the squad. I'd be surprised if Barkley starts the first game in France but equally surprised if he's left behind. He gives Hodgson a different option.
Agreed! Technically wise Alli can't hold a candle to him, but gets the nod because of him running around smashing people*

*-fully aware there is more to his game

Said it before and I'll say it again....If England were playing in my front garden I'd close the curtains, if England were playing in my front garden and there was a 'No ball games' sign, I'd ring the council and grass them up.

I'd take a 24 team premier league and a complete end of international football, it's a complete nuisance.

I hope England get beat in every game, then the FA go on to employ another safe bet 'yes man'

Saying that Barkley's form means he doesn't deserve to play, he's been poor for 3 months. But that's not his fault it's 100% martinez' fault for running the kid into the ground.

I'll be watching the first game of the Euros hoping to see a resounding win

For my adopted country of Russia

I know what you mean, but I am! Nothing to do with England, but this is important for his development and all these knock backs are terrible for a young lad.
He's better out the spot light ATM, when it all goes tits up again at another tournament whicj it will, the last thing we need is him in the firing line, the boys too fragile to take all that

Alli is pretty much on same level as Barkley in terms of technique imo, saying he can't hold a candle to him is nothing short of delusional tbh. They both have exceptionally good technique, its why they stand out so much when they have the ball.

Allí has better decision making though and actually does stuff when he doesn't have the ball.

No arguments from me as to why he is ahead of Barkley in the pecking order, Wilshere though... i rate the lad when he's fit (which is never) but he's played 1 game all season, it's straight up disrespectful to let him just walk in like this having done nothing for ages.

For perspective, Barkley this season alone has scored double the amount of goals Wilshere has scored in his entire premier league career...

What effect do you think not making the Euro squad would have on him? He'd either be angry and motivated by it, or it would would sap him of whatever confidence he has left imo.

Hide the pies and he will flourish. Technically gifted and will be a force again. Martinez turned some of our boys into zombies wereas White Walkers would have been much better.

Barkley needs a kick up the Arse, well and truly dropped by Woy looking at the line up for tonight.

He lacks desire, aggression, he doesn't tackle, ability wise he's the best technical midfielder England has but that ain't enough.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but yours is totally wrong I'm afraid!
Alli is nowhere near Barkley for technical ability! He hasn't the control, technique or passing ability of Ross! What he does better is defensive duties, tackling and work rate. Something that Ross is poor at, which goes back to one of my original posts why are we comparing them, they are nothing alike un their play. They should be dovetailed. Imagine facing them two!!!!!!
Hopefully the stats confirm this! Anyway I've a flight to catch - that's delayed, cheers easyjet! Have a good weekend all!

In real danger of wasting his considerable talent. Needs a strong manager to put a boot raaaar up his fat arse.

Could be the best player of his generation but seems to lack application for me.
