I have to agree. He's obviously not in Roy's plans. I think Roy has taken one look at him and thought "he's just not fit".

Roy doesn't give a damn about Barkley's confidence. He's trying to pick a team that will do well.

Barkley has been poor recently so he can't have any complaints.

...suspect it's more the manager having a look at likely projects for being left out of the squad. I'd be surprised if Barkley starts the first game in France but equally surprised if he's left behind. He gives Hodgson a different option.
