Ross Barkley

More than his weight, fitness, technical ability etc I just worry about his mental fortitude and just how quickly he can look lost and bewildered out there. Confidence seems to be a huge factor with him.

Yep plus the tunnel at halftime, jags had to tell him the boos were not for him, how often does he get upset with the crowd. He got to stop worrying about the fans.

If something goes well for him early in the game then he seems to go and have a very good game throughout. A quiet start though, then his decision making suffers as he tries too hard to 'do something'.

Is he injured or just been dropped? If dropped im glad because he needs a shake up, walking round the pitch like hes not arsed for months.

Notice how he came on and did what he did when he first burst into the scene?
Darting runs with a single minded approach and run towards goal when he had the chance.

Is like he finally found the freedom to be himself again!
He didn't hold onto the ball like a lost puppy and no more pulling half a yard back, turning around 360 looking for someone to pass to and then plays a 5 yard back pass.

Difference today was he played as part of a midfield 3 instead of in the hole which means he could receive the ball deeper without having to abandon Lukaku to get it. Having Mirallas and Lennon up with Lukaku meant he was never isolated and Barkley can do what he does best which is drive with the ball and try and find some through balls. I think 4-3-3 is miles more appropriate than 4-2-3-1. Teams should always adapt to fit their best players and we just haven't been doing that. Round pegs went into round holes today.

Looked good when driving forward at pace and with purpose did Ross today.

Got a rocket from Unsy though when he lazily lost possession and started strolling, Unsy gave him what for and told him to get his backside in gear and get back.
Nice to see Unsy being so demanding so late in a nothing game already won, and also that Ross reacted.

He's definitely not fat, as others have said its muscle.

It wouldnt be a problem if the manager worked on the fitness more, theres no balance. All weights and no cardio, hence why he's cabbaged after half an hour. If he mixed the weights with intense fitness work he'd be a monster.

Can only be reviewed properly once we get a top manager in. Those saying he's finished or should be replaced by 17 year olds are mad. Ross did more at 16/17 than some of those players. What has happened is he has been mismanaged and has tried to take up the mantle for the whole team. Looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. A good manager will find a position he is comfortable in next season and we will have one of the top players in the prem no doubt in my mind.
