Sums it up perfectl.

If I was the England manager I would be thinking I have the most productive midfielder in the country in my squad yet he is still not performing anywhere near his max. What could a top coach manage out of him.

It doesnt really though. Football is not really a stats based game. The only thing that really matters is Alli and Spurs have had a very good season whereas Barkley and Everton have not.

People are scared of stats as they require intelligence to interpret. Therefore they reel off sound bites about them being worthless.

Obviously many stats when viewed without context are worthless however I'll give you an example barkleys pass completion is over 85% so people state he only passes sideways & backwards in order to validate their argument.

The correct interpretation would be to look at his pass completion stat along with goals scored, assists & % of passes forward, this creates a far more realistic assessment.

However this doesn't really fit with agendas & the poor footballing knowledge of the modern fan.

Next we will get don't care about stats I see it worth my own eyes.

I just don't think it's a point that needs to be made at the moment. He's had a poor half season sure, but a pretty darn good half a season before that. Why are we talking about binning a good player as not good enough when the weighting of the evidence suggests otherwise?

At the end of the day we're supporters, not bloody food critics.
It's more than ok to allow some leniency and space for mistakes.
The point I was attempting to make was that, from the perspective of Everton FC, if we chose to replace an academy product with a younger academy product, it wouldn't be so bad in the grand scheme of things. We're not legally bound to keep playing Barkley forever.
