I do worry about Ross' at times fragile confidence. Hopefully Ronald has a good chat with him and gets him refocussed on what really matters, and that's everton. Hopefully the fans show their appreciation to lift his spirits at Sunderland.

Have you seen some of the yard dogs he's picked over him in midfield.
Exactly. You just know what type of football he'll serve up. Barkley would not excel under big Sam, prefers workhorses to talent. That's the type of attitude that held England back since Glenn hoddle's days. The whole England midfield should have been built around a talent like hoddle and he was criminally wasted, hoping that's not going to be the case with Barkley.

Hoddle, Le Tissier, Scholes...

Again...Ross won't be the first or last it happens to

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Ross has the highest stats for all English midfielders only losing out on tackles won in the last season and this so far.

Probs wrong but he Defo must be very close to most goals and assists.

You could say the same about decades of England squads, from Le Tissier, via Hoddle, and back to Bowles, Hudson, Frank Worthington, et al.

The only manager who seemed to build a side to get the best out of one player was Robson with Gazza, with mentions in dispatches to El Tel.

100%, he's supposed to be a stats man, he needs to go look at Barkleys over the last season and how he's started this season and compare them to those RS and Leicester yard dogs he's picked.

Even without being biased, Ross, Baines and Barry make so much sense. Why not pair up Barry with Dier or Drinkwater even just to learn and then 2 yrs from now you've got quality players with loads of experience. Same with Bainesy with Shaw as an understudy. Simple simple football with good professionals acting as 'coaches on the pitch' as Barry was described. Barry hasn't retired from internationals has he?

Indeed. Its hardly a golden era for English football.

The body language of the players at the Euros was awful.I It's obviously not a happy place to be.

Ross will be back but I think it will do him good to have a break from the England setup.
